Week 16 Monday Night Football NFL PrizePicks

Tua Tagovailoa Over 20 Completions

The Dolphins are one of the worst run offenses in the league and have been all year. Despite Duke Johnson going for 107 yards against the Jets, the Dolphins still rank last in yards per attempt on the year and are facing a Saints defense who allows just 3.8 yards per carry, the second-best mark in the league. Even if this game will not produce many points, Tua Tagovailoa will throw quite a bit, as the run game is not likely to be effective for Miami in this spot. Quarterbacks facing the Saints have averaged 44 pass attempts, per game over the Saints past three and averaged 23 completions over their last four. Tagovailoa has a solid 70% completion rate and has averaged 25 completions per game over his last four. He is projected for over 23 completions this week, making the over on this 20 completion over/under a great target.

Alvin Kamara Over 22.5 Yards Receiving

The Saints offense is facing a Miami pass rush that has been nearly unstoppable of late. The Dolphins averaged 4.7 sacks per game over their last three, and while those numbers may have come against weak teams it is still something the Saints should be game planning around. One way to counteract the Miami defensive line is to use Alvin Kamara a lot in the short passing game, and not many teams are better at dialing up passing plays for their running backs than the Saints. Despite some shoddy quarterback play in 2021, Kamara has still managed 25 yards receiving or more in six of his nine games and is projected for well over 25 yards. The Saints should be looking for creative ways to get him involved in the pass game, and he makes for a strong over target at this lower total on PrizePicks.

Marquez Callaway Under 3 Receptions

The Saints receivers all have insanely low receiving totals, to the point where even a slightly above-average outing by Ian Book could see a lot of them hit the overs. The problem is Marquez Callaway and the rest of the Saints receivers are facing a Miami defense that has been nearly impenetrable of late against the pass. The Dolphins have only allowed one wideout to go for more than five catches against them once in their last three games, and they have ceded just a 60% completion rate to the position this year, one of the best in the league. The Saints are not likely to throw much today either. Teams facing Miami only average 34 pass attempts per game, and the Saints have averaged just 30.7 attempts per game this year (sixth fewest in the league). Callaway is coming off his best game of the year but has gone for fewer than three receptions in five of his last six. Do not be shocked if the Saints play an ultra-conservative offense today with the athletic Book, who can do a lot of the same things Taysom Hill can do in the run game.
