Using the Awesemo weekly NFL DFS projections and player prop tools, I will be targeting the players totals and props that stick out as the best options and give you an idea as to why they might be good targets. With PrizePicks we need to use a different approach than the typical NFL DFS strategy. The name of the game is finding potentially mispriced over/unders on player props or fantasy point totals for players in a specific game and melding them together to make winning combo tickets. With that said, let’s get into the best NFL PrizePicks for Week 2 Thursday Night Football New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team.
PrizePicks Fantasy NFL Picks: Week 2 Thursday Night Football
Taylor Heinicke Over 19.5 Yards Rushing
Taylor Heinicke took over Washington a quarter into Week 1 and rushed three times for 17 yards. His best asset might be his athleticism, and Washington is certainly a team that wants to run the ball. When Ron Rivera and his coaching staff had time to prepare for a Heinicke start last year, he rushed six times for 46 yards. This game has a couple of slower-paced teams, but even if Washington is running out the clock late, Heinicke could even be used in the option read, so there is really no reason to shy away from the over here.
The Awesemo Prop and DFS stat tools also like this one quite a bit, as Heinicke is projected for over 22 yards rushing. It is not a huge cushion, but this is a pretty conservative estimate. Either way, this is one of the stronger over leans on the slate.
Dyami Brown Over 27.5 Yards Receiving
Dyami Brown has been going a little under the radar for fantasy purposes, but his usage in Week 1 is certain to turn heads. Brown played on every single offensive snap for Washington, and while that only led to four targets (one reception, 2 yards), the potential for some decent production in Week 2 is on the table. The best thing about this prop is that it is so low. Brown averaged over 20 yards per reception in his final two years of college, and he is going to start connecting a on at least a couple of downfield catches a game if he continues to play close to every down. He is projected for over 40 yards receiving on Thursday against a Giants defense that allowed three different Denver wideouts to go for 39 or more receiving yards in Week 1.
Darius Slayton Under 8.5 Fantasy Points
The Awesemo prop tools this week like the under on essentially all of the Giants receiver props this week, but the best one belongs to Darius Slayton. Slayton out-targeted Kenny Golladay in Week 1 (7-6) but only connected on three catches. Going back to last year, the connection between Daniel Jones and Slayton has been terrible for efficiency purposes, as Slayton has only managed a 50% catch rate on his last 104 targets from Jones.
Teams only threw the ball 33.5 times per game against Washington last year, and Slayton is the third option at best in a crowded Giants receiving corps. His single-stat Awesemo DFS projection this week has him scoring less than 6 fantasy points in PPR scoring, so this 8.5 over/under looks like a good one to attack. Fading the Giants pass game is likely a good play for Thursday, and the best way to do that is to grab a piece of Slayton’s under here.
Daniel Jones Under 231.5 Yards Passing
Antonio Gibson Over 68.5 Yards Rushing
Washington did not get in many shootouts last season. Opponents threw the ball just 33.5 times per game, and quarterbacks averaged just 6 yards per pass attempt. Jones completed under 60% in Week 1 against Denver and now gets short rest to prepare for another elite defense. If Jones does go under his number (he is projected for just 215 yards passing), a big reason could be Washington controlling time of possession. Washington ran 49 times in Week 1, but Antonio Gibson carried 20 times and figures to keep getting a lot of work here given the short week and backup quarterback. A Washington low-scoring win would make this under/over combo appealing on Thursday.
