NFL Odds + NFL Picks: Thursday Night Football Best Bets & Props

NFL Pick: Boston Scott OVER 49.5 Rushing Yards

What a barn burner we have in store for tonight, as two NFC East juggernauts combining for two wins and two dozen injuries square off for Thursday Night Football. You know what pairs nicely with a brutal divisional matchup? Advantageous prop bets.

Fortunately, that’s exactly what we’ve got with this 49.5 rushing yard line for Boston Scott tonight. With Miles Sanders out, you’re looking at a near one-man backfield with Scott, with perhaps some Corey Clement sprinkled in just for kicks. While we’ve seen this episode before back in Week 1 when Sanders had to sit and Scott put up a dud, a home matchup against a Giants defense averaging 140 total yards to opposing running backs can set you right in a hurry. Of course, the key for tonight is a positive game script, so a bulk of those yards can come on the ground. The Eagles are currently 4.5-point favorites, so chances are good Scott will be in store for more rushing attempts than the nine he saw in the 27-17 Week 1 loss to the Redskins.

Lastly, there is precedent for the 5-foot-6 back hitting over 50 rushing yards against this Giants squad already, as he did it twice in Sanders’ absences last year. During their 2019 Week 13 showdown, Scott got 10 carries totaling 59 yards and in Week 17 ran off 19 attempts for 54 yards. With those numbers in mind, 49.5 just feels way too low for a back who should see more than enough touches against a subpar Giants defense to validate a prop closer to 60. Let’s fire up the over here, and be sure to nab the odds on SugarHouse and DraftKings if you can.

NFL Pick: DeSean Jackson OVER 34.5 Receiving Yards

We have two Eagles over props — what could possibly go wrong? Well, when Carson Wentz is the quarterback you’re relying on and the oft-injured DeSean Jackson is the guy you’re laying money on, you’d think a lot.

But not tonight, my friends. The Giants defense, which has yet to face a top-20 fantasy quarterback this season aside from Dak Prescott (who experienced a gruesome mid-game injury), is in line for a rude awakening, as the Eagles regain some semblance of their wide receiver corps with Jackson’s return. Combining Jackson with recent breakout Travis Fulgham for the first time should be fun, and Wentz should feel more at ease despite missing tight end threats Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz. With Richard Rodgers and Greg Ward presenting the only other downfield targets available for the Eagles, it solidifies Fulgham’s and Jackson’s roles even further.

The one big question for me tonight centers around Giants star cornerback James Bradberry. There aren’t many cornerbacks left in the NFL I worry too much about shadowing the player I’m targeting for production, but Bradberry is definitely one of them. I find it hard to believe the Giants won’t have a plan to bottle up Fulgham with Bradberry due to his recent streak of play. That means Jackson could run unabated on the outside all night long, giving Wentz plenty of downfield shots should he choose to take them. And with Jackson’s speed, one play is all it takes for the over on 34.5 yards to get blown out of the water.
