Week 8 Yahoo Daily Fantasy Football Picks Based on Awesemo’s Top Grades & Values

Week 8 of the NFL is here, and Awesemo has a ton of great tools and NFL DFS rankings to tackle all the largest contests in DFS. This article will go through and highlight some of the week’s highest-projected Yahoo NFL picks at each position on the Week 8 main slate, all based on Awesemo’s projections and models. It will also provide insight into rostership projections and provide some other matchup information for optimal Yahoo NFL picks for daily fantasy lineups each week.

Week 8 Yahoo NFL Picks, Grades & Values

Top Graded QB: Josh Allen | Grades: A, Values: B

Josh Allen is one of two quarterbacks on this main slate, with a Yahoo point projection of over 25 points. While he is pricy, the spot for Allen also feels like the most secure on the slate. Miami has allowed over 310 yards passing to four of the last five quarterbacks they have faced and have one of the worst pressure rates in the league. Both teams play at fast paces, and Miami continues to have trouble running the ball, which should mean lots of opportunities for Allen in this game. Paying up for the highest-rated and highest-projected play on the slate at quarterback is a good way to begin lineups.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 26.0%

Top Value QB: Taylor Heinicke | Grades: C, Values: A

There are a few quarterbacks in Taylor Heinicke’s range with decent grades. Heinicke feels like the one the most worth chasing in large-field GPPs, though. The Broncos defense has cratered a bit the last couple of weeks, allowing 9.09 yards per attempt and an average of 277 yards passing against over their last four games (which includes a game against Case Keenum). Heinicke’s rushing totals have skyrocketed of late too, as Washington has had issues running in traditional ways the entire season. Heinicke has carried the ball eight or more times in three of his last four starts and is breaking off big plays, averaging over 8 yards per carry in each of those three games. He has a low salary and a rostership projection under 2% in this spot. Using Heinicke on his own or with Terry McLaurin has a lot of GPP appeal this week.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 0.3%

Top Graded RB: D’Andre Swift | Grades: B, Values: B

D’Andre Swift could have been placed in the value section considering he is only $22 this week, but he is one of the highest-graded players at his position. The Lions running back has the sixth-highest Yahoo projection this week and the best rating of anyone with a salary of $25 or less. He is not going under the radar anymore, but with him going against the Eagles — who have allowed the second-most yards rushing and fifth-most receptions to opposing running backs — rostership projections do not matter much. Swift is averaging six catches per game and playing on well over 70% of the snaps. With how well he projects and how cheap he is, he is basically a free space status, so look for leverage elsewhere in GPP lineups.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 40.8%

Top Value RB: Cordarrelle Patterson | Grades: B, Values: A

Cordarrelle Patterson has finally taken a turn upwards in the projections this week. He comes in with the fifth-best value rating at running back and the second-highest points projection of any running back under $20 on Yahoo. The Falcons have finally figured out how to use him to his max efficiency, and it has been beautiful to watch. Patterson has out-carried Mike Davis two weeks in a row and played on a season-high 71% of the snaps last week for Atlanta. Davis only took four carries for a measly 10 yards last week, so it is nearing the point where this is Patterson’s backfield. His receiving usage (averaging 4.5 catches per game) makes him game flow-proof, and he sets up as the best value under $20 this week on Yahoo.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 17.6%

Top Graded WR: Deebo Samuel | Grades: A, Values: C

The wide receiver rankings of late have been dominated by Cooper Kupp, who continues to lead the pack this week. Deebo Samuel is second in Yahoo projections behind Kupp this week, though, and he is $8 less expensive. Chicago’s defense is truly cratering, and both Samuel and lead back Elijah Mitchell are in spots to go off. Samuel is averaging 10.66 targets per game and has a target share of over 35%, which puts him up with Davante Adams in terms of how often the passes flow his way. There are few players getting used like Samuel, and he continues to be available for under $30 on Yahoo.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 11.6%

Top Value WR: Robert Woods | Grades: B, Values: B

Kupp is not a fade this week, but do not sleep on Robert Woods either. Woods is trending under 10% rostership and is due for another big game after watching Kupp hog most of the glory in 2021. Woods caught all six of his targets against the Lions, so the chemistry between him and Matthew Stafford seems to be improving. Woods has the best points projection for wide receivers under $20 on Yahoo and could see some makeup volume late in this game if it gets out of hand. He is a solid value at under $20, with the Rams projected for over 31 points.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 7.6%

Top Graded TE: Dallas Goedert | Grades: B, Values: C

The tight end player pool for this main slate is one of the weakest in years. So many big names are either off or in prime time, and that has made Dallas Goedert look like the only reliable play. Goedert is not great, but he is in a good spot against Detroit and likely the best of a bad bunch. He figures to keep seeing consistent targets with Zach Ertz gone, and teams have had plenty of success throwing the ball against Detroit, as they continue to rank last in yards per attempt against. Goedert played on 93% of the snaps last week, and in good matchups those snaps will eventually lead to a big day. He is the top-rated tight end on Yahoo’s main slate.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 26%

Top Value TE: Tommy Sweeney | Grades: C, Values: A

There is a boatload of names near the $10 mark at tight end, but Bills tight end Tommy Sweeney rates well and is trending under 5% rostered. With Dawson Knox out this week, Sweeney has been given the keys to the main pass-catching role at tight end and figures to see good usage in a higher-volume passing offense. Buffalo has targeted the tight end position five times per game, and Sweeney is likely the only player at his position to grab those targets this week. Sweeney has the top value score on Awesemo for tight ends and should be viewed as viable punt play in Week 8.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 3.6%
