Week 16 has an 11-game main slate. With COVID-19 already wreaking havoc on the injury reports in places like Kansas City, it will be a fluid week. This article will attempt to provide a quick overview of things early on.

Yahoo Daily Fantasy: Week 16 NFL First Look & Value Plays

QB Jalen Hurts — $35

Jalen Hurts returned to action last Tuesday against Washington and promptly had one of his best games of the year, completing 20 of 26 passes while also rushing for two touchdowns. The Eagles are in the midst of a playoff hunt and get another weakened divisional opponent in Week 16. There was worry about Hurts’ health last week, but he looked more than fine coming off a long rest. He has nine games with 21 or more fantasy points this year and has been a favorite in Awesemo’s projections all year. Hurts is just the fifth-most expensive quarterback on the Week 16 slate and should be high on your list of early week targets to build around.

QB Joe Burrow — $30

Cincinnati and Joe Burrow are coming off a huge road win in Denver last week that has vaulted them into first place in the NFC North, a position they can solidify in Week 16 with a win over the failing Ravens. Baltimore’s secondary is being held together by tape at the moment due to COVID and injuries, and Lamar Jackson likely will not be 100% for this game if he even plays. Burrow and his three-man receiving core could have a field day, and he is affordable enough to consider on Yahoo this week.

RB James Robinson — $27

The Awesemo’s projections last week loved James Robinson, and after 21 touches and a touchdown, Robinson will likely be a highly projected target again. It is not just Robinson’s usage has gone up under the new coaching staff, but it is also the matchup. The Jets have allowed almost every solid lead running back they have faced to post big games against them in 2021, and even allowed journeyman Duke Johnson to go for over 100 yards and two touchdowns rushing last week. Robinson will be extremely popular but is good chalk due to the Jets being on his ledger.

RB Ronald Jones — $18

The Buccaneers lost just about every top-end skill player they had to injury last week (outside of Tom Brady), but luckily they do have some strong replacements. Ronald Jones was outproducing Leonard Fournette for big portions of last year before the latter stepped up his game in the playoffs and became Bruce Arians favorite player. Jones is a solid back, though, and the Buccaneers still have a 27 implied team total this week. Expect Jones to handle the bulk of the work against a flimsy Panthers team, making him an elite target in DFS at under $20 (and likely a popular one too).

WR Antonio Brown — $23

Antonio Brown last played meaningful snaps back in Week 6. He was looking like he might push to lead the league in receiving before he got knocked out for injury and other off-field reasons, but he has made his way back to the team at the perfect spot. Chris Godwin is done for the year, and the Buccaneers have no choice but to deploy the versatile Brown in all the situations he can handle this week. He is likely to project well, as the Buccaneers’ pass-heavy style and barren depth chart should push him to good numbers right out of the gate.

WR Brandin Cooks — $16

The Texans offense has found some life in their last two outings with Davis Mills at the helm. Mills has made a great connection with Brandin Cooks over his last two games as well. Cooks looked like he might peter out completely to end the season, but he has seen 21 targets total in his last two games alone and has pushed for over 100 yards in two straight outings. The Chargers allowed 8.9 yards per pass attempt last week and have the third-worst mark in the league in that area over the last three games. Cooks should find enough big plays to make him at least relevant this week, but his returned upside of late also makes him one of the best pure DFS values on the board.

TE Dallas Goedert — $20

The Eagles have started to target Dallas Goedert on deeper routes more of late, and that has shown on the stat page. Goedert comes into this matchup against the Giants having averaged 18.46 yards per catch over his last two starts, and it was great to see Hurts target Goedert against Washington. Goedert faces off against a Giants team that has allowed the fourth-most receptions to his position this year. He will again likely projects as great value on Yahoo for Week 16.

TE James O’Shaughnessy — $11

The Jaguars will take on a Jets team that has allowed the eighth-most touchdowns to opposing tight ends and the fifth-most yards receiving. New York has been a big-play factory on defense most of the year, but especially against tight ends. James O’Shaughnessy is still quietly getting solid targeting every week (four catches in each of his last two games) and makes for a great punt option in this spot. He is yet to find the end zone in 2021 but will have a great shot at breaking the drought in this one.
