Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 16 Monday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format. Awesemo’s NFL DFS optimizer creates daily fantasy football cheat sheets. Check out who is popping in the Yahoo NFL DFS cheat sheet for the Week 16 Monday Night Football game.

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints – $31

Tonight Alvin Kamara will likely be on 90% or more of all rosters, so the real decision point is whether or not to give him the SUPERSTAR designation. Last year Kamara had a Week 16 to remember when he hung six touchdowns on the Vikings. Tonight gamers would settle for one or two trips to the end zone, as the entire Dolphins defense will be keying on him with rookie quarterback Ian Book ($20) seeing his first action of the season — both Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian are on the COVID reserve list.

New Orleans still has a 52% chance of making the playoffs, so they are likely to feed the ball to Kamara and Mark Ingram II ($16) tonight in the hopes of holding off Miami. It would seem that a projection of two dozen touches is reasonable for Kamara under these circumstances.

Kamara is one of the leading options for SUPERSTAR on Yahoo, and Matt Savoca has an even more in-depth look at his outlook tonight from a holistic view across DraftKings and FanDuel in his Week 16 Monday Night Football Showdown Breakdown.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins – $26

While he is not a particularly exciting option and Miami seems reluctant to stand by him as their future signal-caller, he has the highest projected fantasy score of anyone in the player pool. This is a very favorable salary, and as such, he should be almost as popular as Kamara. Though Tagovailoa has three touchdowns rushing, those were all from close range and he does not contribute much with his legs. In his last four games, Tagovailoa has topped 245 yards passing only once, though he did have two touchdowns passing in three of those appearances.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins – $20

In his last two games since returning from injury, DeVante Parker has gelled nicely with Tagovailoa. In these games he has 13 targets and nine receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. Albert Wilson is out tonight, and Will Fuller had an injury setback and will not return until next season. This assures that Parker will get the intermediate and deep routes, while rookie Jaylen Waddle ($22) and tight end Mike Gesicki ($15) work the short routes and in the flat.

Ian Book, New Orleans Saints – $20

Blake Bortles was signed so recently that he is not in the Yahoo player pool. Rookie fourth-rounder Ian Book will be getting his first live action tonight as the starter for New Orleans. Book was under center for Notre Dame for each of the last three seasons, though he did not have many remarkable performances. However, getting a starting quarterback for just $20 is still a valuable asset in the single-game format. Even if he throws a couple interceptions, as long as he approaches 200 yards with a touchdown passing or, even better, a touchdown rushing, he will likely be in the optimal lineup tonight.

Nick Vannett, New Orleans Saints – $10

Juwan Johnson and Adam Shaheen are both in the health and safety protocol, and blocking tight end Garrett Griffin was placed on the injured reserve last week. That leaves veteran Nick Vannett as the last man standing who has any experience in the Saints offense. Vannett is a solid player and should be on the field for a large portion of the snaps. This should enable him to accumulate 4 to 6 targets and a handful of receptions. Perhaps his supporters will be rewarded with a touchdown.
