Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 7 Monday Night Football | Saints vs. Seahawks Tonight

Tonight the Seattle Seahawks are hosting the New Orleans Saints in the featured Monday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo fantasy points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Week 7 Monday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 7 Monday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format.

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints – $35

Alvin Kamara is the only player with a salary above $25, which underscores the lack of proven fantasy options as both teams deal with a myriad of injuries. Though Kamara leads the team in targets with 22, that is just 4.4 per game and easily the lowest mark of his career, including his rookie season when Mark Ingram was the lead running back. On the flip side, Kamara is averaging the most carries of his five seasons, with 18.8 per game. Tonight is going to be wet and chilly in Seattle, though there will not be nearly the precipitation there was on Sunday Night Football. The only real question about Kamara is, how many lineups will not include him in the SUPERSTAR slot? Dwayne Washington (neck) and Tony Jones (ankle) are both out tonight, which leaves Devine Ozigbo, receiver Ty Montgomery and the fresh off his couch Lamar Miller as the backups.

Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints – $25

New Orleans has become a run-first team that relies on their defense to keep the opponents off the scoreboard. They are averaging only 169.4 yards passing per game, which is ahead of only the 124.4 posted by the dismal Bears. The Saints are averaging only 24 passing attempts, which is the fewest in the league. While Tre’Quan Smith is eligible to return from the injured reserve tonight, he has yet to take a snap after suffering a hamstring injury. Michael Thomas (ankle) is still out indefinitely, and Deonte Harris is out with a hamstring issue. The one bit of upside is that the Seahawks have a mediocre passing defense, and Winston is not afraid to uncork long passes. Taysom Hill (concussion) is also out, which means Winston will not have to worry about being replaced tonight.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks – $20

Tonight will be the 33rd career start for Geno Smith. He has failed to throw for a touchdown 11 times in his career, in 16 games he had one touchdown, twice he has passed for three, and three times he has logged a pair. From a yardage perspective, he has topped 260 five times and 300 just twice. Tonight the Awesemo projections have his median line of 20 completions on 34 attempts for 231.8 yards, 1.21 touchdowns and a 78% chance of at least one interception. Even with all the negativity, he still rates as the third-best fantasy option tonight and by far the best from a point-per-dollar perspective.

D.K. Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks – $25

On Sunday Night Football last week D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett ($20) each saw seven targets in the overtime loss to Pittsburgh. Lockett generally depends on Russell Wilson hitting him in stride deep down the fields for his big fantasy performances. Metcalf, on the other hand, can do a lot after the catch, and he is strong enough to break through the linebackers and into the secondary, which gives him the opportunity to score from anywhere on the field.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

DeeJay Dallas, Seattle Seahawks – $12

Alex Collins ($20) will get the bulk of the rushing attempts, but while he is a capable receiver, he only saw one target last week. DeeJay Dallas will be in on a third of the snaps at a minimum, and he is active in the passing game. Collins is dealing with a groin injury and runs the risk of aggravating it in-game. Even if Rashaad Penny is activated as expected, it would not be a surprise for Dallas to be the next man up if something befalls Collins.

Final Thoughts

There are half a dozen discount dandies in the $10 to $11 range that could luck into a touchdown and find themselves in the optimal lineup if this game ends up being as low scoring as expected with the 41.5 over/under. In the large-field tournaments, it is worth sprinkling that motley crew in a few lineups with the hopes of catching lightning in a bottle.
