Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team – $24

This is a very appealing salary for Taylor Heinicke, who has been at the helm of the Washington offense since Ryan Fitzpatrick was felled by injury back in the season opener. Though his statistics have not been particularly eye popping, he has logged 20 or more Yahoo points in five of his nine starts. The game plans have been relatively conservative, with a short passing game that has allowed Heinicke to complete just over two-thirds of his passes and enough deep throws to Terry McLaurin ($20) to keep defenses honest. Washington has run 47.78% of the time in neutral situations, which is the sixth-highest rate in the league according to the Awesemo Advanced Statistics page. Heinicke has also shown himself to be nimble when needed, with 20 or more rushing yards in five of his last eight games.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks – $32

In the two games since returning from surgery on his throwing hand, Russell Wilson has not been particularly effective. One of the most accurate quarterbacks year in and year out, he has barely completed 50% of his throws in games against Arizona and at Green Bay. He had a combined 368 yards passing, two interceptions and no touchdowns in those games. Wilson is going to show up well in projections, but there is a lot of risk of him still not being right. Washington has a bottom-three pass DVOA, and Wilson has one of the best receiving duos in the league, but that may not be enough for his fantasy backers tonight.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Football Team – $20

This has been an up-and-down season for Terry McLaurin, who pundits had pegged for a big year with Fitzpatrick working his magic. While he does have four games with 18 or more Yahoo points, the other six have all resulted in single digits. The volume has been there, and he has had at least seven targets in every Heinicke start, but the long-ball accuracy has not been there to take advantage of McLaurin’s speed with any consistency. If McLaurin has a boom game, this salary is going to look like a bargain.

Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team – $22

The nice thing is that Antonio Gibson has been the beneficiary of a run-first offense. However, he has not been as fortunate in the passing game, seeing just two targets on average with Heinicke under center. Gibson has scored his six touchdowns in four games, which also coincide with his best fantasy performances of the season. Seattle has quietly become a solid run defense, but they allow teams to march up and down the field through the air. Gibson should get a few red-zone carries tonight, and he will be in the mix as one of the top fantasy performers if he can reach pay dirt.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

DeeJay Dallas, Seattle Seahawks – $10

Travis Homer and Rashaad Penny are both out tonight, and Chris Carson had season-ending surgery. That leaves Alex Collins ($16) and DeeJay Dallas as the last available running back options familiar with the Seattle offense. Last week this duo each had 18 snaps, with Homer and Penny combining for 13. If this game goes sideways, it will be Dallas in the backfield with Wilson, as Collins is not particularly effective in the passing game. Dallas also is adept enough in the running game that he can be in the game without Seattle tipping their hand as to what type of play will be called as long as the score is close. For the minimum salary, it is worth taking a chance at 6 to 10 touches for Dallas, who also had his first touchdown rushing of the season last week.
