Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 4 Sunday Night Football Buccaneers vs. Patriots

Tonight the New England Patriots are hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the Week 4 featured Sunday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo fantasy points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Sunday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 4 Sunday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format.

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $35

There are rivalries, there are grudge matches, and then there is Brady coming back into Gillette Stadium to take on Bill Belichick. It does not matter that the Patriots have the fourth-best passing DVOA in the league, as Brady’s 10 touchdowns lead the league, and he has 1,087 yards passing. Even with Rob Gronkowski sidelined with a rib injury and Scotty Miller on the injured reserve, Brady still has plenty of pass catchers to give New England fits.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $27

This is a challenging salary for Chris Godwin when Mike Evans ($21) and Antonio Brown ($19) are available at a significant discount. The Buccaneers have attempted 141 passes against just 48 rushing attempts. There will be volume enough for all three receivers to be effective tonight, though Godwin has been the steadiest producer with Brady at the helm.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Mac Jones, New England Patriots – $23

This certainly does not feel like a comfortable recommendation considering that Mac Jones has been under center for a grand total of 205 snaps this season. While they would prefer to lean on their running game, New England is facing a stout Tampa Bay front seven. Jones has 120 pass attempts through three games, which is the seventh most in the league. Though he has just two touchdowns passing, there should be the volume and passing opportunity to match that tonight.

Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots – $17

While all of the Buccaneer receivers are better options tonight than Jakobi Meyers, at least one Patriots needs to be on rosters. Meyers has 29 targets through three games, including 14 last Sunday. Despite not reaching the end zone, he still has been among the better New England fantasy producers, with 19 receptions for 176 yards.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Pass Catching Potpourri

The injury to Gronkowski is going to create opportunities for Cameron Brate ($10) and O.J. Howard ($10), who are both coming in at the Yahoo minimum salary. Brate is more likely to get work between the 20s, though he will be behind the wideouts in Brady’s read progressions. Both have touchdown equity in the red zone.

Hunter Henry ($15) and Jonnu Smith ($12) are interesting discount dandies, as they are both seeing steady targets. Henry has played just over two-thirds of the snaps this season and has 13 targets. Smith is on the field for just over half of the plays and has 16. They are worthy of a look, if only to get a second Patriot in lineups.

Final Thoughts

This is going to be an interesting lineup construction tonight, as most lineups are going to look best with four Tampa Bay players. However, if two different Patriots score and the Buccaneers production is limited to only a couple guys, then having more than a single New England option is going to be the path to the top of the leaderboard.
