Tonight the San Francisco 49ers are hosting the Indianapolis Colts in the featured Sunday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo fantasy points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Week 7 Sunday Night Football game tonight.
Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 7 Sunday Night Football
Top SUPERSTAR Options
The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers – $31
It is shaping up to be a stormy night in the Bay Area, which is going to make for sloppy game conditions. Currently the expectation is heavy rain during a fair portion of the game, along with wind gusts around 30 mph. Deebo Samuel is the most consistent and dynamic playmaker in the 49ers offense. He has an athletic blend of size, speed and strength, which makes him tough to bring down and someone who can break through the secondary on short passes. Typically he is in play for a carry or two, and while that has not been as frequent as it has been in prior seasons, he did run for a touchdown before the bye week. George Kittle and Raheem Mostert are out, which leaves shaky running back options and a severely limited group of pass catchers.
Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts – $29
This is shaping up to be a perfect game format for Jonathan Taylor, with the poor weather conditions, solid but not spectacular defenses and marginal quarterback play. That is leading to a low 42 projected point total, with the home team favored by just over a field goal. Though Taylor is only playing around half the snaps, he is getting a fair share of the workload, and he has at least 110 combined yards or a touchdown in his last three games. Taylor also had nine targets in the last three games, which is nearly double the five for Nyheim Hines. Let personal preference guide the decision on which of this duo to use in the SUPERSTAR slot, though both should be in a majority of lineups.
Yahoo NFL Core Picks
Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts – $23
Despite all of the disparaging thoughts about the fantasy prospects for Carson Wentz, he has topped 17 Yahoo points in five of six games. However, he has surpassed 19 fantasy points only once, and that was against Baltimore on Monday Night Football when he threw for a career-high 402 yards. Even then he only managed 22.58 fantasy points. Wentz is not much of a runner anymore, as he is continually dinged up, but he is still nimble enough that he could luck into a red-zone touchdown. Touchdowns passing will be hard to come by with the weather and considering he only has managed eight on the season. The salary is appropriate for his projected fantasy production, and in a game like tonight, collecting as many raw points as possible is going to be key.
Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers – $18
Tonight Jimmy Garoppolo will be back under center, replacing injured rookie Trey Lance. Word is that he is fully healthy after missing time with a calf injury, though it is still hard to consider him as a recommended play. Instead, look to rookie Elijah Mitchell, who was drafted three rounds after Trey Sermon, though he has clearly outplayed Sermon this season. Mitchell should get the first crack at the backfield workload, and 18 to 20 opportunities are in the cards.
Yahoo NFL Value Picks
JaMycal Hasty, San Francisco 49ers – $13
Gamers may have forgotten about JaMycal Hasty, who missed the last five weeks with a high ankle sprain. He had also moved ahead of Sermon prior to his injury, and he is arguably the better receiver out of the backfield with Mostert on the shelf. Something along the lines of 6 to 10 touches is a reasonable expectation, making him a solid value option with a little upside.
Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts – $13
Last week when T.Y. Hilton made his first appearance of the season, Zach Pascal saw only one target and a dramatic decrease in his snap share. Hilton is now out with a quad injury, so Pascal should be back on the field for around 60% of the snaps. Prior to last week’s dud, he was seeing half a dozen targets per game. Generally he sees shorter targets and should still get opportunities, even with the inclement weather.
Similar to Thursday Night Football, tonight’s game is shaping up to be a slog, albeit for weather conditions rather than injury situations. In low-scoring games, touchdowns are magnified even more than usual. There may only be three or four in the entire game tonight, and they could come from anywhere. Do not be afraid to play some unusual combinations of players such as two running backs from the same team or building lineups without either quarterback. If one lineup can feature a touchdown reception, that lineup will race up the leaderboard, especially if they are coming from secondary or tertiary players.
