Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 17 Sunday Night Football | Packers vs. Vikings

Tonight the Green Bay Packers are hosting the Minnesota Vikings in the featured Sunday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Week 17 Sunday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 17 Sunday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format. Awesemo’s NFL DFS optimizer creates daily fantasy football cheat sheets. Check out who is popping in the Yahoo NFL DFS cheat sheet for the Week 17 Sunday Night Football game.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers – $38

Quarterbacks are typically among the highest scoring players on Yahoo with their half-PPR format. This gives Aaron Rodgers the slightest nod over Davante Adams ($40) who has been bestowed with the highest salary in the player pool. Rodgers has at least two passing touchdowns in every game with the exceptions being the opener against New Orleans and then in Week 10 when the Seahawks somehow blanked the Packers 17-0 in Green Bay. While he still has enough mobility to avoid sacks, Rodgers does not run unless absolutely necessary. That of course makes sense when we remember he turned 38 last month, though he still does have three rushing scores. The likely outcome is that Green Bay is able to salt this game away in the second half, so we will need Rodgers to get most of his production in the first three quarters.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the leading options for SUPERSTAR on Yahoo, and Matt Savoca has an even more in-depth look at his outlook tonight from a holistic view across DraftKings and FanDuel in his Week 17 Sunday Night Football Showdown Breakdown.

Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings – $35

This is not going to be an easy matchup for Dalvin Cook with the Packers likely to stack the box on most plays. Kirk Cousins is on the COVID-reserve and Adam Thielen (ankle) is on the injured reserve. Cook was out last week in the health and safety protocol, though the silver lining is that his shoulder had another week to heal. Green Bay has the second worst rushing DVOA this season so there is still a strong chance that Cook will be able to produce yardage, the fantasy production of course is all about the touchdowns.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Sean Mannion, Minnesota Vikings – $20

The Awesemo projections have Sean Mannion for just shy of a dozen fantasy points. Though Mannion has only appeared in 13 games with a scant two starts, he has been in the league since 2015 so that is a lot of preseason and practice reps. This play is all about getting one of the two starting quarterbacks in the player pool at the Yahoo $20 minimum. The former Oregon State Beaver will likely flirt with 200 passing yards and he could get a score or two along with the requisite two interceptions.

A.J. Dillon, Green Bay Packers – $19

The game flow could favor a heavy workload for Dillon if the Packers are able to get out to a multi-touchdown lead early. Heck, even if things are wrapped up by the fourth quarter, Dillon could still be featured on a couple drives. Otherwise he will be splitting time with Aaron Jones ($25) who should see at least half the touches and almost assuredly all of the high-leverage opportunities. The story you are building your lineup around will help determine which running back to target. There are also scenarios where both could surpass a dozen fantasy points, and not many gamers will be looking to pair them on the same roster.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Green Bay Packers DST – $12

The Packers are sixth in the league with 26 turnovers while also producing a tick over two sacks per game. If Rodgers and the offense can put up some points, Mannion could be forced to throw which bodes well for the fantasy opportunities of this mediocre unit.

Green Bay Packers Tight Ends

Marcedes Lewis and Josiah Deguara are bookends at the tight end position. Lewis is the elder statesman who has been in the league for 16 seasons while Deguara has played in 16 games. Coming out of the Week 13 bye, each has been targeted at least three times per game. There is some red zone potential, though this duo is definitely behind Adams, Jones and probably Dillon. However, Green Bay is without Randall Cobb (groin) and Amari Rodgers (COVID) so there are a few extra targets available. We could do far worse for the Yahoo $10 minimum salary.
