Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 4 Thursday Night Football Jaguars vs. Bengals

Tonight the Cincinnati Bengals are hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Week 4 featured Thursday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo fantasy points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Thursday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 4 Thursday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format.

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals – $28

The decision between the Burrow and Joe Mixon is a close one. It is absolutely viable and strategically appropriate to play both on the same lineup since it will allow the coverage of most of the rushing and one side of the passing game. With the half-PPR format on Yahoo, combined with the low passing volume of the Cincinnati offense, Burrow gets the nod. Even if the game is one-sided as expected, it will be his arm that will likely propel the Bengals to a lead. If the game is close, then he should see volume closer to his Week 1 performance, which would boost his upside when combined with his incredible efficiency.

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals – $28

Mixon is the undisputed bell cow in Cincinnati. Through three games he has over 80% of the snaps and opportunities in the Bengals backfield, and tonight he has a matchup against the mediocre run defense of the Jaguars. Though he has not seen a lot of action in the passing game, Cincinnati has been able to run at will, and they have not yet been involved in a track meet. If and when that time comes, Mixon will still be the main running back option, and he is an excellent play in all formats both tonight and going forward.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars – $18

It is all about the volume for James Robinson, who double the snaps of Carlos Hyde, though the gap is closer when it comes to opportunities. Robinson has the edge in carries 31-19 and easily outpaces Hyde 15-4 on targets. However, Hyde is still a risk of getting any of the rare red-zone carries for the Jaguars due to Urban Meyer’s usage of him.

Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals – $19

There is a dramatic salary chasm between Tyler Boyd and Ja’Marr Chase ($26), which easily has the needle pointing towards Boyd. Tee Higgins is out again this week, so Cincinnati passing targets should concentrate among this pair. The only real risk is that there has been a lack of volume, as the Bengals have not had to air things out. Burrow has already logged seven touchdowns, with four to Chase, two to Higgins and one to Boyd, which has masked the lack of catches and yards.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Jacksonville Discount Dandy Pass Catchers

The trio of Marvin Jones ($17), Laviska Shenault ($13) and D.J. Chark ($15) are all accompanied by enticing salaries. While they are not the extreme minimum $10 to $12 options that are usually in the value section, without any player more than $30 tonight, gamers do not have to go all the way to the bottom of the salary list.

Jones has been far and away the top option through three weeks, as his counterparts each saw their Week 3 targets cut in half compared to the opener. Chark has the highest depth of target and the most air yards on the team, and in prior seasons he has been an efficient scorer from anywhere on the field. Shenault will likely see a carry or two, but it would be nice if he were getting more work in the short passing game. The main issue has been Meyer’s play calling, as he does not seem to have a grasp on what he should be strategizing for when he does not have an overwhelming talent advantage like he did in the college game. Hopefully the game plan includes more short passes for Shenault and Robinson. Tight end Dan Arnold was just acquired by the team this week and likely will be active.

Final Thoughts

For the first time in prime-time single-slate action on Yahoo, there are no NFL superstars in the player pool. That has dispersed fantasy production and flattened out salaries, which will provide a plethora of ways to construct lineups tonight for the Yahoo Thursday Night Football Baller.
