NFL Week 12 Yahoo! Million Dollar Baller Picks Using Awesemo’s Premium Rankings (FREE)

Yahoo fantasy football is running a $1,000,000 contest with a $20 entry fee and 40,000 entries for Week 12 of the NFL season, which means they are adding $200,000 to the prize pool. Let’s get into some Yahoo Daily Fantasy Picks for NFL lineups, including Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp and more.

Week 12 NFL Yahoo Daily Fantasy Strategy & Picks

The critical thing to remember is that Yahoo is a half-PPR site, and the minimum salary is $10, with an average salary per player of $22. This week, Tom Brady is at the top of the salary list at $41. The complete scoring parameters can be found here.

One of the most valuable features of the Awesemo.com premium content is the personal player rankings from Alex Baker, for all of the main sports. The players grade out separately for each DFS site with ratings for both “projected points” and “value,” receiving an A through E report card-style grade. This week, as a special treat, Awesemo is also adding in the “Roster%,” which is the projected percentage a player will be used in the large-field tournaments.

Quarterback

If you have played daily fantasy football on Yahoo or Yahoo fantasy baseball, you know that the strategy is to look for the cheapest quarterback or pitcher that is tolerable so you can look for more secure points and upside elsewhere. In the recommendations below, I will be highlighting several discount options at the other positions so you can build a framework that will allow lineup construction for a top-shelf quarterback, along with his favorite target and still have enough salary cap to run it back with the top option on the opposing team.

Tom Brady: Tampa Bay Buccanneers – $41 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 6.7%

While Tom Brady is at the top of the salary list and he does not add to his fantasy production with his legs, this is allowing us to get the future Hall of Famer at single digit popularity. Indianapolis is in the bottom-third of the league against the pass and Tom Terrific is leading the league with 317.7 passing yards and 2.9 aerial scores per game. While Antonio Brown is still out, Rob Gronkowski ($22) returned and put up six reception for 71 yards on eight targets. This will give the Colts yet another sure-handed receiver to account for whenever he is on the field.

Tyrod Taylor: Houston Texans vs. New York Jets – $20 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value A, Roster% 21.2%

This is an excellent matchup for journeyman Tyrod Taylor as the Jets have the second worst rushing DVOA and the worst passing DVOA. There is not much downside in Taylor’s salary since he is at the Yahoo minimum. While he may not be a flashy play, he should be able to approach 20 Yahoo Fantasy points and with the salary cap flexibility he provides, there are plenty of ways to build in upside with more dynamic fantasy options.

Jalen Hurts: Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants – $35 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value C, Roster% 13.9%

Despite failing to surpass 200 passing yards for the sixth time in his last seven games, Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to a 40-29 victory over the Saints. While we cannot expect multiple rushing touchdowns with any regularity, Sunday was the third time this season he has accomplished that feat. The 69 rushing yards were the third most he has had this season and at least he had 20+ passing attempts for a second consecutive week. New York has a solid passing defense from an efficiency standpoint, however, they are 30th against the rush and we know the Eagles are a rare team that looks to use the run to set up the pass.

Running Back

We want to keep in mind that while running backs are very important, Yahoo fantasy uses half-PPR, which will not penalize running backs that are not as active in the passing game.

Christian McCaffrey: Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins – $40| Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 25.6%

There are enough value options that we can easily treat ourselves to a luxury running back in Christian McCaffrey this week. In his last two games he has put up twin 21+ Yahoo Fantasy point performances and that has been accomplished with only a single touchdown. In these games he has averaged 11.5 carries for 77 yards with 9.0 targets for 8.5 receptions and 63 receiving yards. Of course Cam Newton is going to be a threat to vulture any red zone carries, but at least he has provided enough of a spark to keep the opposition on their toes and not completely keying in on McCaffrey.

James Robinson: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Atlanta Falcons – $27| Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value C, Roster% 32.0%

Jacksonville has a cherry matchup on Sunday in what is a winnable game where they are just two point underdogs at home. James Robinson has been consolidating the running back opportunities and now he gets a matchup against a bottom-five defense in the Falcons. Robinson has tallied double digit fantasy points in six of his last seven games including five with 16+ Yahoo Fantasy points. Touchdowns have been his calling card and he continues to be the leading red zone option for the Jaguars while doing just enough in the passing game to keep things interesting regardless of the game flow.

Miles Sanders: Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants – $17 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value A, Roster% 13.9%

The salary and matchup certainly are making Miles Sanders one of the better point per dollar options this week. Though he only saw one target and has two in his last two games, he did get a season high 16 carries for 94 yards after missing nearly a month with an ankle injury. It would be a savvy move to not force Sanders onto many lineups with his quarterback as there are not enough touchdowns available to support both of them having outstanding fantasy performances. Sanders is still looking for his first trip to the end zone, and there is a strong possibility that it occurs on Sunday.

Wide Receiver

The top-shelf Yahoo fantasy options are typically priced in the low-to-mid-$30 range. Often, they are best paired with their quarterbacks for tournament upside rather than risking downside as solo plays.

Davante Adams: Green Bay Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams – $31 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 16.8%

The Rams have one of the better defenses in the league, however, Davante Adams is easily one of the top three receivers. It helps that the former Fresno State Bulldog has a future Hall of Fame quarterback running the offense. However, the more important thing is the all but locked in double digit targets. For the season, Adams is fourth in targets, third with 97.9 receiving yards and the five touchdowns are solid, though not as plentiful as they were last season. This should be a fun game to watch in what is shaping up to be a back and forth affair.

Cooper Kupp: Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers – $36 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 19.1%

This season Cooper Kupp has taken a giant stride forward to become one of the three best receivers in the league. Currently he sits atop the leaderboard in targets, yards, touchdowns, plays of 20+ yards, first downs and he is second to only Deebo Samuel in yards after the catch. The chemistry with his new quarterback, Matthew Stafford ($29) has been amazing as they are both lifting the other to career seasons.

Brandin Cooks: Houston Texans vs New York Jets – $13 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value A, Roster% 17.5%

This is one of the best plays on the entire slate and while Brandin Cook’s popularity should double by kickoff, we should be looking to roll with him in at least half of our lineups. Though he only saw three targets last week, he should be in the 8-10 range against the woeful Jets. We can also use him in the same lineups as Taylor for additional synergy while loading up on all of the other positions.

Tight Ends

Pat Freiermuth: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals – $17 | Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value D, Roster% 3.2%

Eric Ebron (knee) is out once again, so that means rookie Pat Freiermuth is the unquestioned top tight end for the Steelers. In his last five games he has 6+ targets in each with 31+ yards in four along with four touchdowns. It is only a matter of time before he breaks a 20+ yarder or two down the middle along with a touchdown and flirts with 20+ Yahoo Fantasy points.

George Kittle: San Francisco 49ers vs. Minnesota Vikings – $24 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 15.0%

In his three games back from a long injury layoff, George Kittle has reminded everyone that he is one of the top tight ends in the game. In this stretch he has averaged 6.3 targets with 5.0 receptions, 61.7 yards with a touchdown in each game. Clearly he is producing numbers right now that are nearly as good as at any time in his career and we should make him part of our plans on Sunday in what could be a very fantasy friendly environment.

Defense/Special Teams

This week, there is one top-tier unit and a familiar bargain option.

Houston Texans vs. New York Jets – $14 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value C, Roster% 5.8%

Once gamers start to see that there is no need to go for the extreme punt options, this unit will approach 20% on the popularity meter. In back-to-back games, Houston has posted 15+ Yahoo Fantasy points and they get another great matchup against an overmatched offensive line against a rookie quarterback who just missed a month with a knee sprain.

New England Patriots vs. Tennessee Titans – $19 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value E, Roster% 7.6%

Once again Bill Belichick has put together one of the most effective defenses in the league. Though things looked shaky through the first six weeks of the season, over the last month and change the Patriots have been amazing once again. In this stretch if we exclude the three return touchdowns, they are still averaging 13.2 Yahoo Fantasy points per game. Sunday they will be facing the Titans who are without all of their key receivers and are down to their fifth string running back. Enjoy!
