NFL Week 7 Yahoo! Million Dollar Baller Picks Using Awesemo’s Premium Rankings (FREE)

Yahoo fantasy football is running a $1,000,000 contest with a $20 entry fee and 42,500 entries, which means they are adding $150,000 to the prize pool. Let’s get into some Yahoo Daily Fantasy Picks for NFL Week 7, including Jalen Hurts, Derrick Henry and more.

Week 7 NFL Yahoo Daily Fantasy General Strategy & Picks

The critical thing to remember is that this is a half-PPR site, and the minimum salary is $10, with an average salary per player of $22. This week, Patrick Mahomes and Derrick Henry are at the top of the salary list at $40. The complete scoring parameters can be found here.

One of the most valuable features of the Awesemo.com premium content is the personal player rankings from Alex Baker, for all of the main sports. The players grade out separately for each DFS site with ratings for both “projected points” and “value,” receiving an A through E report card-style grade. This week, as a special treat, Awesemo is also adding in the “Roster%,” which is the projected percentage a player will be used in the large-field tournaments.

Quarterback

If you have played daily fantasy football on Yahoo or Yahoo fantasy baseball, you know that the strategy is to look for the cheapest quarterback or pitcher that is tolerable so you can look for more secure points and upside elsewhere. In the recommendations below, I will be highlighting several discount options at the other positions so you can build a framework that will allow lineup construction for a top-shelf quarterback, along with his favorite target and still have enough salary cap to run it back with the top option on the opposing team.

Jalen Hurts: Philadelphia Eagles at Las Vegas Raiders – $35

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value B, Roster% 10.3%

This Sunday will mark the 11th regular season start for Jalen Hurts. While he is progressing as a passer, his real fantasy value is two-fold. First he is an excellent runner and not far behind Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray. Second, he essentially is the entire Philadelphia offense. Through six games Hurts has 53 carries for 300 yards and five touchdowns, four of which came in the last two games. Though he has been held under 200 passing yards in three of the last five games, he did tally 326 against Dallas and 387 against Kansas City, so he does have upside available. Las Vegas is average against the pass and has allowed multi-touchdown games to Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford and Baker Mayfield. For those of you who are not enthralled by Hurts, Lamar Jackson ($38) is only a couple dollars more and in a good matchup against Cincinnati.

Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans – $40

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value C, Roster% 16.5%

Once again Patrick Mahomes is the bucks deluxe option of the main slate. Sunday he will be going against a team with a bottom-five passing DVOA in the game with a whopping 57.5 projected point total. Kansas City is favored by 4.5 points and they are going to need to keep their foot on the gas against the high octane Tennessee offense. The Titans are scoring nearly four touchdowns per game while allowing nearly as many. At this point we all know the bona fides of Mahomes, who is posting per game averages of 314.3 passing yards and 3.0 touchdowns which is right in line with his 2018 MVP season. Tyreek Hill ($35) and Travis Kelce ($28) can be paired with their quarterback in tournaments for additional synergy.

Running Back

We want to keep in mind that while running backs are very important, Yahoo fantasy uses half-PPR, which will not penalize running backs that are not as active in the passing game.

Derrick Henry: Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs – $40

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 20.8%

After watching Derrick Henry demolish the top ranked rushing defense of the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football for 143 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 carries. On the season Henry is averaging 130.5 rushing yards per game and only Nick Chubb (104.6) and Ezekiel Elliott (104.6) are even within 50 yards of Henry. This truly is an apex salary level for a running back and we will need 100+ yards and likely two touchdowns to be happy, however, this is the matchup where that can happen against the worst rushing defense in the league.

Darrel Williams; Kansas City Chiefs at Tennessee Titans – $18

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value A, Roster% 29.4%

It looks like Darrell Williams is slated to see the majority of work in the backfield with Jerick McKinnon spelling him from time-to-time. Though Kansas City is a pass first offense, Williams is a capable receiver and can be on the field in all game situations. Tennessee is in the bottom-third of the league against the run and this is a favorable salary for what should be 15-20 looks in the highest scoring game of the day.

Darrell Henderson Jr.: Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions – $27

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value C, Roster% 33.3%

This week Darrell Henderson Jr. got a salary bump from $20 to $27, though that is still a deal for his matchup against the feeble Lions. In the five games he has started, Henderson has a touchdown or 100+ combined yards in each. While all eyes are going to be on Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff going against each other, do not forget about the Rams running game.

Wide Receiver

The top-shelf Yahoo fantasy options are typically priced in the low-to-mid-$30 range. Often, they are best paired with their quarterbacks for tournament upside rather than risking downside as solo plays.

Chris Godwin and Mike Evans: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Chicago Bears – $24

Godwin: Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value C, Roster% 10.9%

Evans: Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 10.6%

Antonio Brown (ankle) will be joining Rob Gronkowski on the sideline which leaves a void that can easily be filled by the duo of Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Though Chicago has a top ten passing DVOA, they are going to have trouble slowing down Tom Brady who is playing some of his best football of the last 10 years. Brady has attempted 41+ passes in all but one game and he had 36 in that outlier when Tampa Bay crushed Atlanta 48-25. The Buccaneers move the ball with the pass and continue throwing even when they are up, just keeping their pass catchers inbounds to keep the clock moving. Godwin gets the slight nod as the steadier option, but we have all seen Evans flash his slate breaking upside many times throughout his career. Tyler Johnson ($10) makes for a nice discount dandy and we can even include Brady for a full Pewter Pirate onslaught.

Tight Ends

Mark Andrews: Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals – $20

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 11.8%

It is interesting to see Mark Andrews projected popularity drop by over half with Kelce back on the main slate. Last week Andrews came through as our recommended option seeing half a dozen targets for five receptions, 68 yards and a score. That now gives him 215 yards and three touchdowns on 16 catches over the last two weeks. Finally he is healthy and with Sammy Watkins out once again, he should continue to see steady looks from his quarterback.

Mike Gesicki: Miami Dolphins vs. Atlanta Falcons

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 4.8%

Will Fuller is still on the injured reserve and DeVante Parker’s last production came in Week 4 before being injured in Week 5 and sitting out last weekend. Preston Williams is also dinged up and if neither wideout is able to return to action we are going to want to be sure to have Mike Gesicki on a few lineups. The fourth year veteran has been solid notching at least 13.6 Yahoo Fantasy points in three of the last four weeks. In this stretch he has seen 34 targets and has become a core part of the offensive game plan with his effectiveness.

Defense/Special Teams

This week, there is one top tier unit and a familiar bargain option.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Houston Texans – $22

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value E, Roster% 4.0%

While this is a significant salary cap hit, the Cardinals are not going to be on many tournament rosters. They have a cherry matchup against an overmatched Davis Mills who has been sacked a dozen times in his last four games and he has six interceptions in his last three. To be a difference maker, the Arizona supporters are really going to need a touchdown or something close to a shutout in order to be worthy of this salary. However, that is far from impossible and worth taking a lottery ticket approach on a couple lineups.

Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Football Team – $12

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value C, Roster% 22.8%

For the third week in a row, Green Bay is recommended as a bargain defense. This time they are back at home and will be taking on Taylor Heinicke who has been a nice story, but the production has tailed off dramatically each week as the league has started to figure out his limitations. Though he was not sacked last weekend he managed only 182 passing yards against Kansas City despite 39 attempts. The Packers pass rush has been on point and they have 13 sacks over the last four weeks with five interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
