The 2021 NHL season is officially underway. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in hockey. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks to make for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stack: COL1
It’s a giant 13-game NHL DFS slate, which means one can often just pick their favorite plays with no real concern for ownership. And if you can do that, going to Colorado’s top line is usually a wise choice, especially in a phenomenal matchup at low ownership.
We all know the characters in this movie, and they are all headliners from top to bottom. Center Nathan MacKinnon would likely get deemed the main actor with his never-stopping fantasy output. To this point in the year, MacKinnon is averaging over 21 minutes of ice time, 1.25 points and four shots per game. In support, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog are nothing to be passed over. Both come in with at least five points and 46 shots combined between them.
At 7% projected ownership on DraftKings, getting over the field is far too easy. Couple that with facing a Sharks team that is allergic to defense, and the upside is through the roof.

With nearly every big name in hockey on this slate, we can drop down a tier and find lines in great spots at minimal ownership. Nashville’s top line is set up to have a nice night going up against the Blackhawks.
Like every sport, NHL DFS has players we don’t enjoy rostering that often are a necessity. In this scenario, Ryan Johansen would definitely be that guy. Johansen is not a big producer, but his price tag, especially on DraftKings at $4,000, is more than swallowable and brings the overall price of this line down considerably. The wingers, on the other hand, are very solid DFS options that we can actually enjoy. Through five games, Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson have combined for nine points and 33 shots on goal.
Finding fully correlated top stacks on slates of this size can be vital to putting up the giant score needed. We get that here at a nice value, great matchup and nearly no ownership.
