The 2021 NHL season is nearly a month old and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 17
Top Stack: CHI1
At less than 10% projected ownership on DraftKings (18% FanDuel) and the third-highest top-two stack percentage, Chicago’s top line could be the difference maker. And on small slate with Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid, there’s plenty of leverage to be had.
Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat are well-known commodities in the NHL DFS community. Each is averaging over a point per game and more than 3 shots per game. The surprise of the line is Pius Suter, who has found his game since being moved up with two playmakers, with points in six of eight games. The Suter has shown his offensive prowess, with a hat track already. The only slight drawback is Chicago’s tendency to mix lines around, but getting 60% of draws in the offensive zone solidifies Suter will get opportunities as well.
Detroit has actually not been as horrible on defense as we would expect, but this top line can skate with any team at even strength. The ownership gap between them and the others up top is too much to ignore.

Over-Owned Stack: CGY1
On the flip side of the coin, we need to make sure we are watching our exposure to value lines that will fit with the very popular stacks. At or below $16,600 on both sites, Calgary’s top line needs to be monitored.
On DraftKings the ownership on this line isn’t quite what we are currently projecting on FanDuel. With the extra $5,000, you can easily fit this line in with either TOR1 and EDM1. That capability automatically makes this a heavily owned line, and adding in the fact they get a matchup with the terrible Canucks defense makes them a standalone option.
I absolutely like the spot for them, but on FanDuel you will need to get different with your primary stack to reduce duped lineups.
