The 2021 NHL season is nearly a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 18
Top Stack: PIT1
This NHL DFS slate has a lot of quality stacks and plenty of spots requiring ownership. Pittsburgh’s top line with full correlation and great metrics looks like a great starting point.
Since this line was put together a handful of games into the season they have dominated the ice in all facets. With 122 approximately minutes together thus far, they have compiled a gaudy Corsi-for (62%), scoring chances (66%) and high-danger chances (62.5%). With all of that, they have also produced a goals-for percentage of 61% and 5.78 expected goals. Sidney Crosby drives most lines to great numbers with his ability to possess the puck, so this isn’t much of a shock. It’s honestly more surprising this trio wasn’t paired much before this year. Jake Guentzel and Bryan Rust are high-volume players who gel perfectly with Crosby’s ability to incorporate his linemates.
The Islanders are not a team that takes many penalties, but that is negated by PIT1’s great five-on-five numbers. As the second-most likely top-two stack on both sites, with leverage, I like getting over the field.

Value-Stack: OTT1
Larger slates provide us with a lot of value stack options that don’t get the ownership they deserve. Under $15,000 and 2% projected ownership makes the Senators’ top trio a great filler.
After some question whether or not this line would remain intact, it appears the Senators staff took notice of their dominance. So far in the two games against the Leafs, the trio of Joshua Norris, Brady Tkachuk and Connor Brown have a Corsi-for and shots-for above 70%. Their likely line match will be TOR2, which has really struggled with possession at just a 41% Corsi. That lack of possession should lead to even more opportunities for this line.
The price and ownership are just too low in a matchup with a poor defensive team starting a rusty goalie. With top power-play correlation and Tkachuk’s shot rates, they provide both a floor and a ceiling for NHL DFS.
