The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 23
Top Stack DraftKings: EDM1
Projected ownership between the sites is vastly different for Edmonton’s top line for tonight’s NHL DFS slate. As the highest projected top-two stack and at just 9.6% on DraftKings, there’s no need to overthink.
For six-game slates, we need to be focused on ownership to avoid being duped. Sometimes it’s easy to get different when the option is to stack better plays. The trio of Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jesse Puljujarvi is the most expensive line on the slate by $1,300 on DraftKings, but seemingly with reason. A mixture of ownership relief and a great matchup make the pay-up option very appealing.
The Canucks are taking the most penalties in the NHL and rank third worst in goals allowed. Mix all of that together, and you get a great play that includes the best player in the world.

Over-Owned Stack: PIT1
Getting negative leverage on both sites is not a good sign for those liking the Penguins first line. With projected ownership hovering 20% industrywide, we’ll have to be on top of their exposure.
On DraftKings this line is just too cheap at $16,500, so the ownership makes sense. But on FanDuel, where they are $19,500, the concern for opportunity cost should be considered. More into that, there are lines on FanDuel within $600 up or down that carry positive leverage, arguably better matchups and similar fantasy projections.
Any line containing Sidney Crosby is going to get attention, but on a slate where we get plenty of good matchups at low ownership, DFSers need to beware.
