The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 24
Top Stack: ARI1
We should almost put a disclaimer saying that “besides Toronto” this looks like the top stack of the night. At what should be a fifth the ownership (maybe less) of the Leafs first line, we get a great spot for the Coyotes top line, especially on DraftKings.
With projected ownership under 5% on DraftKings and a matchup with the hapless Ducks there is plenty of reason to believe they show up in the optimal stack. Winger Conor Garland has been NHL DFS gold all year, averaging over 3 shots and nearly a point per game in a tier below all of the superstars. His 59.1% iCF and nearly 70% of shifts starting in the opponent’s zone is huge with the Ducks inability to maintain possession. Altogether, with Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller, the Arizona top line has posted fantastic metrics across the board, most impressively 67.44% high-danger chances for.
There is a little bit of question of the certainty surrounding this line going into the game. They were broken up once after getting down 3 goals, but their correlation still exists on the power play if something does surmise. Regardless, the Ducks are just so terrible that the chances will absolutely be there and at a fraction the ownership of the much higher-owned stacks.

Under-Owned Stack:MIN1
After a letdown last time out against the Sharks, we get a nice buy low spot for the Wild’s top line. With less than 3% projected ownership on both sites and positive leverage, they are one of the few consistencies on this NHL DFS slate.
Often relied on for their good defensive stick and toughness, Joel Eriksson Ek and Jordan Greenway have been thrusted to the top line to help neutralize other team’s strongest points of attack. They’ll be matched up against Colorado’s big-three line, which means they may get more defensive draws, but it also means they’ll get more guaranteed ice time.
With Kevin Fiala now on this line, they immediately get a big offensive upgrade. In their short time together, their possession metrics are all at 59% or higher, which isn’t surprising with the strong ability all three have on the puck. Colorado’s top line’s best defense is their offense, so if this line can maintain, they will create opportunities.
