The 2021 NHL season is nearly a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stack: TOR1
One slate too late? With projected ownership under 10% on both sites I’m not sure we can ask for much more but we will. Arguably, there hasn’t been a more consistent line in NHL DFS.
It all starts with the league’s leading Goal scorer Auston Matthews with 16 goals overall and five in his last three – he’s very good. Averaging over four shots per game and just under 1.5 points per game his floor is unmatched by anyone not named Connor McDavid. On his wings are the very aged Joe Thornton and playmaker Mitch Marner. This group has an interesting dynamic and fantastic production overall with 60 points combined this year.
Going up against Montreal can be challenging with their ability to possess the puck but we’re being paid off in the form of ownership relief. Last game’s output won’t be the last time this year they do such and at this ownership I’ll be taking advantage.

Under-Owned Stack: LA1
Any NHL DFS slate with Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid will provide plenty of good low-owned spots. As a fully correlated stack with a reasonable price the spot for the Kings top line makes for easy leverage.
With 17 points in the last 15 games these three have found their stride since being put together. In their handful of games together they are averaging over three high-danger chances per contest (four last game vs ARI). Center Anze Kopitar can play with any player on the planet and make them even better. With the mixture of Kopitar’s puck savvy, Dustin Brown‘s willingness to get dirty, and Alex Iafallo‘s speed they have gelled well for a few seasons.
Arizona is an average defensive team across the board at 5v5 but have given up near league worsts in shots and high danger chances on the penalty kill. This sets up about as well as it can for a stack under 3% projected ownership industry wide.
