The 2021 NHL season is officially underway. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in hockey. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks to make for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 8
Top Stack: TOR1
With the recent changes to the Maple Leafs’ top power play, this is about as good as a spot can get for any top line. Rarely the third wheel is fully correlated with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, but Zach Hyman drawing on the top power play is huge.
In comparison to the Connor McDavid line, this trio is projected to be around 5% lesser owned on both sites with equal top-two stack opportunity. The night will likely come down to which line outscores the other, as they will both be heavily owned and rightfully so.
Another large factor to be considered is the matchup for Toronto, especially the power play. The Canucks are on a record pace, taking over 5 penalties per game and killing them at a league-average rate. With the top power play in hockey (38.5%), the spot couldn’t really come together any better for these guys.

Under-Owned Stack: TB1
We are getting a huge ownership discount because McDavid and Matthews are on this slate, and Tampa’s top line is in a great leverage spot. With under 4% projected ownership on DraftKings, it will take minimal effort to put yourself in a +EV situation.
Looking for lines that are fully correlated is the easiest way to maximize your ceiling in NHL DFS. To help maximize that ceiling, we’re going to need some power-play goals from the trio in this one. Nashville has shown a lack of discipline this season, averaging nearly 10 minutes of penalties per game. In nine games this group is averaging a point on the power play each game and put up 26 points overall.
Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point are top-level players who have a nose for scoring. With Ondrej Palat‘s willingness to support, they have a great history together and slate-breaking ability.
