The 2021 NHL season is officially underway. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in hockey. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks to make for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Jan. 19
Top Stack: COL1
This is not going to shock anyone: This is the most lopsided matchup on the NHL DFS slate. Colorado looked like an All-Star team, scoring 8 against the Blues last time out, so everything points to them doing something similar here against the Kings.
Nathan MacKinnon showed why he’s an MVP candidate last game, absolutely flying around the ice creating and scoring goals. Being reunited with his old line mates Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen paid off immediately for the Avalanche. Together they nicely nuked the slate and put up seven points to kill nearly any stack not containing them.
The Kings will have no answer to stop these guys unless they have a hot goalie, and with the backup Cal Petersen getting the nod, I’m not sure odds are good.

Under-Owned Stack: WAS1
A new line combo is an easy way for stacks to go under-owned in NHL DFS, and we get that situation with the Capitals’ top line. After a few lackluster performances, the team is looking for a spark in the second of a back-to-back against the Penguins.
Tom Wilson is the newest member of the WAS1 trio and gives a nice bit of salary relief on both sites in comparison to T.J. Oshie. Wilson is a similar player with a bit more of an edge and more limited offensive skillset. As we all know, Alex Ovechkin is the centerpiece of this line for good reason. His floor is always elite with nearly five shots per game (for his career), and he carries hat-trick upside every single night. This line would not be complete without a puck mover, and Nicklas Backstrom fills that role to perfection most nights. With two assists through three games, he is on right on pace with his career numbers.
As a whole, this stack looks to be under-owned thanks to some other great plays on the slate.
