The 2021 NHL season is up and running about as smooth as we expected. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: DraftKings + FanDuel NHL DFS Picks | Feb. 9
Top Stack: EDM1
Any time Edmonton is on a slate, there is a high probability of them being a top stack. When they are projected as the third-highest-owned stack on the slate (on DraftKings), you have to take even more notice. It comes as somewhat of a surprise they aren’t the highest-owned stack on both sites, but after a letdown last night and with value needed, I can get on board.
Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL, so we don’t need to go into too much depth with him. His ability to find the scoresheet is completely unmatched with 27 points in 14 games this season. What will keep this full stack from being over-owned is cheap uncorrelated winger Jesse Puljujarvi. Along with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, this trio has amassed 92 minutes of ice time together this year. The five-on-five metrics are outstanding, but the results are so-so. The only category they are under 50% is goals allowed, with 7 allowed to their 3 scored. The chances will always be there, especially against the Senators’ terrible defense, so it will simply come down to them finishing.
If you can get McDavid as under-owned in any context in NHL DFS, especially on DraftKings, you have to pounce. With other stacks garnering ownership, getting over won’t be difficult.

Under-Owned Stack: DAL1
Without Tyler Seguin, it’s hard to believe what Dallas has done offensively this year. In three of nine games, they have scored at least 6 goals while averaging 3.66 goals per contest overall.
There is a bit of uncertainty who will be rounding out this group with Joe Pavelski and Jamie Benn, but with that uncertainty comes low ownership. Ty Dellandrea is projected to be the last piece of this line and really brings the price of the stack down. In relation to last year’s pricing, Benn and Pavelski are at unthinkable prices on both sites, but when you combine the trio, you get something much more affordable.
As the cheapest line on either site in the top five of our leverage column, you can pair them with anyone, including the line mentioned above. Any edge you can obtain in your McDavid lines will be crucial.
