The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stack: Col1
On an NHL DFS slate with only six games, we have to be aware of ownership as well as construction. Colorado’s top line is at least $1,300 below Boston’s first line on both sites, making them more flexible and my preferred smash spot, if you will.
Little needs to discussed in the way of this trio’s production, as they have been great offensively for nearly three seasons, so let’s focus more on theory and ownership. After a complete letdown last slate versus this very same horrendous Sharks defense, it is possible some are gun shy to attack a line that is projected for 25% ownership on both sites. That ownership would give me some pause but with the salary relief ,and similar ownership to Boston, they give you the opportunity to diversify at your benefit, which is crucial for smaller slates.
It’s a phenomenal spot once again going up against a Sharks team near the bottom of the league in all defensive categories. At similar ownership and less cost than other lines I’ll use this fully correlated top stack to touch as many secondary lines as I can.

Under-Owned Stack: LA1
This slate has a plethora of big names and expensive lines, which will leave the mid-tier lines very under-owned and overlooked. Topping that list by a good margin with big leverage is the Kings top trio.
In their 248 minutes together this year, the combination of Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Alex Iafallo have been fantastic, especially when talking about metrics. In that time they have posted possession and goal numbers all well above 65% and most impressively carried 82% of the goal share versus their competitors. Now, this does include their power-play time together, but that can’t be taken from them, as this obviously is part of the appeal.
As a fully correlated, under-owned and highly productive line, there is no reason to leave this line behind when setting your exposures.
