The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks | March 1
Top Stack: CGY1
On a slate with so many good spots and also some uncertainty, we know one this is certain: The Senators are terrible defensively. With a new line combo up top for Calgary and projected ownership hovering around 10%, this line gives us everything.
Needing a spark after some lackluster performances in Toronto and Ottawa, Geoff Ward put Elias Lindholm up top with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. In their first full game together, they tallied 2 goals and 2 assists as the team put up 6 in total. Plus, the Senators are the worst defensive team in all of the NHL in terms of goals allowed, with 3.96 per game.
This line will see a lot of ice time against the worst five-on-five team in the league in Ottawa. As an added bonus, we now get a fully correlated line on a slate that will surely need a big score. With positive leverage on both sites, there’s room to get over the field and still not get overcommitted.

On an NHL DFS slate with so many high-end options in great spots, exposure to these stacks needs to be monitored. Another consideration that needs to be made with these lines is the often dynamic situation the Hurricanes have with their lines. On top of all of that, they are playing a Panthers team that has been very good defensively, allowing just 2.75 goals per game while having the second-best xGA at even strength.
Leverage: -5.6% (both averaged)
Value Stacks: STL2, WPG2
