The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it has been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks | March 4
Top Stack: NYI1
Facing a mess of a Sabres team at home, the Islanders top line is a great spot for leverage on a slate with so few top-end lines. With less than 7% projected ownership on both sites, the trio of Mathew Barzal, Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle have to be noticed. At five-on-five, where the Sabres are nearly dead last in all possession and scoring metrics, this line has thrived. Creating 46 high-danger chances in comparison to 22 for their opposing line, they are near elite status in that category.
Regardless of site, this line is just too cheap for the matchup, at under $20,000. They should get to face the depth of the Sabres as well, which can only emphasize their ceiling.

On a slate with so many lines that compare positively, we need not to get crazy with prioritizing any certain lines based on the top stack percentages. With more ownership than the aforementioned NYI1 stack, watching your exposure to this line is advised.
Facing the Red Wings is always a common target in NHL DFS, but often that is based on implied total in correlation to the Vegas odds. Even though Detroit is definitely a bad team offensively, their defensive metrics are all middle of the pack and could be considered above league average in comparison to their awful possession numbers.
Carolina is going to be a popular play across the top three lines because of the Wings’ struggles but with so many lines on this slate, I would make sure to cap appropriately.
Awesemo’s Top 2 Stack Percentage: 3.3%
Awesemo’s Ownership Projection: 7.85%
Leverage: -4.55%
