The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.
Top Stacks: Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks | Feb. 25
Top Stack: BOS1
It’s another NHL DFS slate with Connor McDavid, which means it’s another slate with a bevy of under-owned top lines. With under 5% projected ownership on both sites, the perfection line in Boston makes for a great leverage spot.
We saw once again what David Pastrnak can do every game, as he dropped a hattrick on the Flyers in the Outdoor Series in Lake Tahoe. After breaking this line up for a game or two, Bruce Cassidy realized it was too costly. Altogether, with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, the trio is easily the most expensive line on the slate regardless of the site you’re playing on. Being at those lofty tags, their leverage is unmatched on this slate. The largest benefit to such leverage is the affordability to then stack with a popular stack like Calgary or Florida.
The Islanders have done a good job staying out of the box and have gotten phenomenal goaltending most of the year. This doesn’t often set up great for opponents, but this line is matchup-proof. At such low ownership, they should never go overlooked.

Value Stack: Car2
On a slate this large we are going to need to find some good value to stack with all of our top-end options. With positive leverage on both sites and a price just over $15,000, Carolina’s second line slots in nicely.
Coming off a 3-0 loss, Tampa Bay should also help keep down the ownership of this line, which has produced nicely. In just over 142 minutes at five-on-five this year, they are carrying positive possession and scoring metrics across the board and have cashed in those opportunities with 7 goals. The line has 39 points and 20 goals, which sounds a lot more like a top line than any second line.
Vincent Trocheck and Nino Niederreiter are tied for the team lead with 9 goals, which just speaks to their production. Martin Necas is a playmaker who should continue to benefit with their shoot-first mentality (9 assists). At almost no ownership and positive leverage. I’ll take shots with this line across the board.
Awesemo’s Top 2 Stack Percentage: 1.3%
Awesemo’s Ownership Projection: .7%
Leverage: .6%
