🏒 Top Stacks: NHL Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for DraftKings + FanDuel | Philadelphia Flyers 3/2/21

The 2021 NHL season is now over a month old, and it’s been unpredictable and entertaining. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in NHL DFS. For reference, each goal averages 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and daily fantasy hockey picks for DraftKings and FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stack: PHI1

Going up against a Sidney Crosby-less Penguin team makes for an immediate upgrade and necessity to exposure on this Philadelphia top line. With less than 2% projected ownership on both sites, it couldn’t be easier to leverage the field.

After being one of the cheapest top lines in NHL DFS for the first month, both sites have properly priced this line to their production. James van Riemsdyk has always been a good point producer, but he has went about to unforeseen levels this year with 25 points in just 18 games. Since the return of Sean Couturier from injury, this line has been absolutely dominant on the puck and shooting it. In roughly 70 minutes of ice time, they have compiled an xGF of 4.11 and high-danger chances for just under 70%. Rounding out the trio nicely has been young winger Joel Farabee, with 17 points thus far.

No matter whom this line matches up against, it will be to their advantage in Pittsburgh. The ownership definitely doesn’t justify the numbers this line has put up so far.

Over-Owned Stack: MTL1

As is customary with most slates, anyone facing the Senators is going to be owned heavily. At barely $15,000 on either site, this line fits with everything, so stackers beware.

When lines are owned so heavily on a good size slate there needs to be some kind of payoff with upside. This line unfortunately doesn’t carry much of said upside with their lack of powerplay correlation and paltry minutes compared to other top lines. To put in perspective, this line has 18 games together in total with just 152:16 of ice time, while a line such as NYR1 has 21 games played with over 210 minutes together. Thirty minutes may not sound astronomical, but when you put it terms of power plays, that’s approximately two power plays of extra correlation and upside per game.

It is obviously a good spot, going up against the team allowing the most goals per game, but with their ability to fit with all stacks, you’ll need to differentiate with your primary stack or goalie/defensemen.
