WPG1 (Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler)
Likely the chalkiest spot on the night, the Jets top line, at the very least, makes for the scariest fade on this 9-game slate. They’ll have full power-play correlation on the top unit on the league’s best home power-play, while the Senators have the 6th-worst penalty-kill in the NHL, and that’s before we get to the even-strength matchup. The Senators are a team we’ve targeted all season, as they’ve allowing the most Corsi Against per 60 and 5th-most Scoring Chances Against per 60 at 5v5, and the top-2 lines for the Sens are both very leaky defensively. The ownership will be high, but it’s warranted with all these factors and Vegas backing the Jets with a huge home implied total.
NYI1 (Lee-Nelson-Eberle)
The Islanders top line should get a handful of favorable matchups at home against the Oilers, who are on the back-end of a road back-to-back. This line will all play on the top power-play as well, which can’t hurt against the Oilers’ 30th-ranked penalty-kill. This Isles line has done a good job generating offense, including over 60 Corsi For per 60, 31.5 Scoring Chances For per 60, and nearly 17 High-Danger Chances For per 60 at 5v5. A good even-strength matchup and top power-play time make this line a great bargain at just $15K on DraftKings.
VGK2 (Tuch-Stastny-Pacioretty)
Tonight’s Nashville-Vegas game is loaded with talented on both sides, and quietly the 2nd line for the Golden Knights has been fantastic at 5v5 despite not making a lot of noise on the score sheet. They’ve generated over 34 Scoring Chances and 16.3 High-Danger Chances For per 60 at even-strength, and they’ll be linked up on the 2nd unit for Vegas against a Predators team that has been short-handed the 7th-most times in the NHL. The Preds have also been struggling their last 10 road games, allowing 61.2 Corsi 60, 28.6 SCA/60, and 11.8 HDCA/60, compared to their season-long numbers where they rank inside the top-10 in fewest CA/60, SCA/60, and HDCA/60.
