CAR1 (Niederreiter-Aho-Williams)
The Hurricanes’ top line has been playing as well as just about any other line in the NHL as of late, and they’ll get a great matchup on home ice against the Rangers tonight. The Rangers are allowing the 6th-most Scoring Chances Against per 60 and 5th-most High-Danger Chances Against per 60, while the Hurricanes lead the NHL in High-Danger Chances For per 60 at 5v5. The Aho line has been incredible at even-strength, and with the possible return of Jordan Staal, they could see the Rangers’ depth lines, and they’ll have full power-play correlation against the Rangers’ 26th-ranked penalty-kill.
PIT2 (Aston-Reese-Malkin-Kessel)
The Malkin line comes into tonight with a pricetag of just $16,500 on DraftKings despite a solid matchup going into New Jersey. The Devils will likely have the Zajac line go up against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins’ top line, while PIT2 gets a matchup against the Hischier line, which has been poor in its short sample at 5v5 (44 min, 65 CA/60, 14.2 HDCA/60). The price is too cheap for this line, especially when you consider they have 2 integral parts of the top power-play unit and they’re facing a New Jersey team that has the 6th-most Times Short-Handed this year.
FLA2 (Dadonov-Trocheck-Hoffman)
The 2nd line for the Panthers should avoid the Eichel line for most of the game, as they’ll get to feast on the Sabres’ 2nd and 3rd lines at 5v5. Buffalo allowing the 9th-most Corsi Against per 60 and 9th-most Scoring Chances Against per 60, and while we don’t have a large sample on this trio together, they all have ability to rack up points individually, so some favorable matchups at even-strength won’t hurt. Each of them will get power-play time (Dadonov and Hoffman on PP1, Trocheck on PP2), where the Sabres have struggled since January 1, killing off penalties at just a 75% rate.
