COL1 (Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen)
Nathan MacKinnon and the pricey Avalanche top line will go up against one of the most giving teams in the NHL, the Detroit Red Wings, on home ice tonight in what looks to be one of the best spots on the entire slate. Over the last 10 games, the Red Wings are allowing the 5th-most Corsi Against per 60 and 3rd-most High-Danger Chances Against per 60 at 5v5, while this line has been fantastic at 5v5, as they’re on pace for nearly 70 Corsi For per 60. Add in top power-play correlation, and you’ve got one of the top stacks on the night, especially when you factor in the Red Wings’ 25th-ranked penalty-kill (77.9%). The big-3 skated together in their last game, but keep an eye on morning skate line rushes to ensure the big-3 are back together.
**Landeskog, MacKinnon, and Rantanen skated together at AM skate**
NYI1 (Lee-Nelson-Eberle)
The Islanders’ top line provides a lot of value in tournaments on DraftKings tonight in a great spot at home against the Senators. Ottawa continues to be horrid defensively, ranking in the top-5 in all of Corsi Against per 60, Scoring Chances Against per 60, and High-Danger Chances Against per 60 at 5v5. NYI1 has put together some solid numbers at even-strength, including 27.8 Scoring Chances For per 60 and 13.9 High-Danger Chances Against per 60, and no line for the Senators should scare us in terms of limiting them offensively. The Sens also rank 24th on the penalty-kill, and each of these guys is listed on the top power-play, making this one of the top bargains of the night in all formats.
**Check pre-game line rushes on the Islanders at 6:30ET, as there is a flu bug going around in their locker room, so there could be some surprise scratches/line changes**
ARI2 (Hinostroza-Richardson-Panik)
If the Senators are the worst defensive team in NHL, the Coyotes’ opponent, the Anaheim Ducks, aren’t too far behind them for the crown at this point. The Ducks rank inside the top-3 in all of CA/60, SCA/60, and HDCA/60, and while the addition of Ryan Getzlaf back into the lineup should help their cause a little bit, they’re still one of the better matchups to target these days. The Richardson line will probably see split time against ANA1 and ANA2 tonight at 5v5, but they’ve done very well in that role the last few games, and their overall numbers at 5v5 are quite eye-popping, as they’re generating 65.8 Corsi For per 60 and 15.5 High-Danger Chances For per 60. The Coyotes have been switching up their PP units lately, but all of ARI2 was on the power-play in some fashion in their previous game, which will only help versus the Ducks’, who have been short-handed the 6th-most times in the NHL this season.
