CGY1 (Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm)
The Flames’ top line doesn’t have great possession numbers just yet, but they’ve run into 3 tough road matchups in a row against the Predators, Blues, and Avalanche, so we can give them a bit of a pass for a slow start. Tonight, they’ll be at home against the Bruins who really only have one line we’re scared of, and the Backlund line will be on hard-match shutdown duty against them. CGY1 should be in favorable matchups all night at even-strength and Boston has had issues with goaltending and the penalty kill, so each piece of the trio getting PP1 time is very valuable here.
NYI2 (Lee-Nelson-Eberle)
The Islanders’ 2nd line will probably not have much ownership because they’re on the road with a low team total, but if you’re looking to pay up for one of the power lines, NYI2 makes for a great filler stack. While there isn’t much data on this line together, the Nelson-Eberle and Eberle-Lee combos both played very high-event hockey in their time together last season. The Ducks are getting back Ryan Getzlaf which is a bit of a boost, but their defense has been one of the worst in the league, as they’re in the top-7 in all of Corsi Against per 60, Scoring Chances Against per 60, and High-Danger Chances Against per 60 in their 6 games this year.
