2 more NHL games to talk about tonight, and as usual, the home teams are favored to win in both games. As always, Awesemo will give his take on each stack’s outlook tonight, then I (Tommienation1) will follow up with some additional analysis.
PIT1: Gentzel-Crosby-Hornqvist ($20,000 DK/$22,600 FD)
“The top line for the Penguins should continue to play well at even-strength and will all get power-play time as well.”
The matchup for the Penguins’ top line (“A” points grade) gets a little better with Tom Wilson suspended. We don’t know for sure who will slot into his spot, but some beat writers believe it will be Devante Smith-Pelly with Kuznetzov and Ovechkin. That trio allowed 36.4 Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes and 13.8 High-Danger Chances Against per 60 minutes in 151 minutes at even-strength this year, so the stacked top line for the Penguins should be able to create a ton of chances tonight. They’ll be likely the highest-owned stack, but they deserve it tonight.
WPG1: Wheeler-Scheifele-Ehlers ($18,100 DK/$20,600 FD)
“The Jets have a 3.3 team total tonight on home ice as they look to go up 3-1, and this top line should get great matchups once again.”
After being down 3-0 at the end of the first in Game-3, the Jets shook things up with Ehlers on the top line for the rest of the game, and they were fantastic. In 11 minutes at even-strength, they outshout their opponents 14-11 with 7-3 Scoring Chances and 4-1 High-Danger Chances. Assuming we see this line once again, they will likely avoid the top-6 for the Predators and instead go up against the Nick Bonino line. Wheeler and Scheifele will play on the top power-play unit as well and they deserve the “A” points grade they received in Awesemo’s rankings.
