DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Stacks of the Day for 3/20

Stacking in NHL DFS is crucial to increase upside for a better chance to win GPPs.  Below are Awesemo’s top stacks on the night, followed by additional analysis from myself, Jake Hari aka Tommienation1 on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Tampa Bay Lightning ( $15,800 DK/$18,500 FD)

“The Lightning second line featuring Brayden Point, Ondrej Palat, and Tyler Johnson may not even be the highest-owned line on their own team, but they arguably have the better matchup tonight. In GPPs, getting some exposure to them is wise at their mid-tier price.”

In Ondrej Palat’s return, the Point line (“A” points grade) will likely matchup with the Kadri line for the Maple Leafs, which has been one of the worst defensive lines in hockey when together. They have allowed 31.6 Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes (SCA/60) and 13.9 High-Danger Chances Against per 60 minutes (HDCA/60) at even-strength this year, which are numbers that the Point line should be able to take advantage of. If you’re looking to play the chalk team and get away from the Lightning top line, take the savings with the second line in GPPs.

Chicago Blackhawks ($16,500 DK/$19,500 FD)

“On DraftKings, the underpriced top line for the Hawks has a solid matchup against the struggling Avalanche defense and allows you to fit in another top stack of your liking.”

Another one of Awesemo’s top stacks — Brandon Saad, Jonathan Toews, and Patrick Kane — have a 52.5 Corsi For Percentage (CF%), 36.7 SCF/60, and 15.9 HDCF/60, which are some top-notch offensive numbers. The Avalanche have had trouble suppressing shots lately, allowing the 5th-most Corsi Against per 60 minutes (CA/60) in the NHL since March 1. The Hawks may not be a good team this year, but this is a line that is worth playing in tournaments at this price, especially on DraftKings where they can be had for cheap.

San Jose Sharks ($16,600 DK/$17,400 FD)

“Evander Kane, Joe Pavelski, and Melker Karlsson are fairly priced for the upside they offer in tournaments, as they should see favorable matchups all night at even-strength. Karlsson’s price on both sites lets you get cheap exposure to two of the Sharks’ best playmakers.”

The Kane-Pavelski combo has a 58.9 CF%, 37.5 SCF/60, and 17.2 HDCF/60 in their 121 minute of even-strength ice time. This line has been seeing a lot of time against opposing top lines at home, which would mean a date with Taylor Hall, Nico Hischier, and Kyle Palmieri. The Devils’ top line has been brutal in road games this year, allowing a whopping 20.5 HDCA/60 at even-strength. Kane and Pavelski are on the top power-play unit, and the Devils have been short-handed the 6th-most times on the road this season, making them a high-upside stack.
