Centers

Mika Zibanejad — NYR vs CAR — ($7,700 DraftKings, $8,300 FanDuel)

Zibanejad will be more highly owned on this medium slate. The matchup is against a Carolina team that has allowed 16 goals in its last five games and is desperately missing Dougie Hamilton. Add in their inconsistent goaltending and there is a recipe for some more top-line production here from the Rangers. In two games against Carolina, Zibanejad has three goals and four points on seven shots.

Pivoting to Leon Draisaitl or even Matt Duchene could pay off as their matchups are as favorable. Watch for Dylan Larkin as a contrarian play against an Islanders team that has been struggling as of late.

Kirby Dach — CHI vs NSH — ($3,600 DraftKings, $3,500 FanDuel)

For now, Dach presents a decent option for Chicago. He has seven points and a few goals in his past nine contests with 24 shots on net. He is getting chances and being rewarded for them. Dach has seen at least 16 minutes of ice time over his last 10 games and is even getting a bit more power play time as well. Nashville can give up goals in bunches, even with John Hynes as their coach. You can also consider Dominik Kubalik from Chicago for nice shot volume and potential for double-digit fantasy points.

Wingers

Pavel Buchnevich — NYR vs CAR — ($4,600 DraftKings, $5,500 FanDuel)

Buchnevich generates good shot volume. He averages nearly three shots a game of late and just fired three shots in his last contest. Overall, the New York winger has 10 points in his last nine games while generating two-plus scoring chances a night. Plus, that DraftKings price makes Buchnevich a nice value play on this slate. It seems FanDuel has caught up with his production on the Kreider-Buchnevich-Zibanejad line.

Keep an eye on this game. Like others tonight, it has a high potential for six goals or more, which makes for some stacking with Carolina (Aho-Teravainen) and New York on multiple fronts. These two teams should be able to trade goals given the fact that their defenses give up inopportune high-danger chances in abundance. David Pastrnak and Patrick Kane are obvious choices, but let us continue with the not-so-obvious.

Andreas Athanasiou — DET vs NYI — ($4,800 DraftKings, $4,700 FanDuel)

Athanasiou is awful defensively, but his offensive potential is still pretty good. He has six points (five goals) in the last five games while averaging nearly three shots a game on the net. The Islanders have always been susceptible to speedy wingers like him. His two-goal performance against Montreal could be a sign of things to come and he has 14 road points in 24 games with three shots a game on the road.

Look at Anthony Beauvillier against the Red Wings as well. Even an Adam Henrique play is plausible on Friday.

Defensemen

Connor Murphy — CHI vs NSH — ($4,700 DraftKings, $3,700 FanDuel)

This is a pure floor play. Murphy carries value and his shots/blocks total is around four over the past six games. Granted, the Chicago defenseman has just 17 points in 48 games on the season, but again, that floor is prevalent. Hitting value remains key here and Murphy can still do that on most nights.

Also, consider Adam Fox or Tony DeAngelo from the Rangers here. From the Colorado side of things, look at Ryan Graves. If one wants to spend up, Roman Josi is still a good pick, but watch for a Ryan Ellis return.

Stacks

NYR1 — Mika Zibanejad – Chris Kreider – Pavel Buchnevich

There is nothing to expect but quality chances with this group. Again, Carolina’s been giving up goals and chances of late. This line has been good to very good in their two meetings with Carolina this season. Zibanejad has four points in those two meetings and with the Hurricanes missing their best defenseman, chances are high it could happen again.

BOS1 or EDM1

Both are very good choices with excellent matchups. Boston always seems to play well in Alberta for some reason and tonight may be no exception. Then there is the Edmonton play of Leon Draisaitl and Kailer Yamamoto. Yamamoto’s DFS value and price have both shot up through the roof over the past couple of weeks. It makes stacking a bit more of a challenge, but with Edmonton, a pairing with Darnell Nurse can help bring that average cost down some.

CHI3 — Alex DeBrincat – Kirby Dach – Dylan Strome

There is something sneaky about this line that is good and their matchup against Nashville is a favorite of mine. They may not always generate the most shot and chance volume, but that could be elevated tonight because of the pace of play. Nashville’s third line is also one to look at as well if one wants to keep costs down a bit.
