NHL DFS Picks: Centers

Mika Zibanejad — NYR vs. PHI — ($8,200 DraftKings, $8,200 FanDuel)

Zibanejad just keeps on scoring. He is up to seven straight games with a goal now. He hits value for his price and he has brought consistency from the center position. It will be intriguing to see how highly he is owned given the back end of a back-to-back. Also, Philadelphia is one of the best teams at home in the league and allows just 2.06 goals a game at home (22 wins). Sean Couturier would be the ideal alternative for those looking for a boost from the hometown Flyers.

Pivoting to Sebastian Aho and Sidney Crosby could pay off as their matchups are as favorable. Watch for Vincent Trocheck as a high-risk play from Carolina. His price has not been lower all season and will likely avoid the top defensive pairing from the Avalanche.

Boone Jenner — CBJ vs. MIN — ($4,200 DraftKings, $4,400 FanDuel)

For now, Jenner is back to his normal late-season self. He seems to save his best for last and give people hope for next season. The center has six points in his last nine games with two goals and four assists. He has combined that with 31 shots on net and 18 scoring chances. A nice wrinkle to Jenner’s game is his blocks per game which is up to 1.4 per contest over the last month. Again, his floor is solid enough along with his lower price.

NHL DFS Picks: Wingers

Andrei Svechnikov — CAR vs. COL — ($5,700 DraftKings, $6,400 FanDuel)

Svechnikov is averaging nearly three shots a game (32 shots) during his 11-game point streak. That includes five goals as well. The winger is young and yet is still on pace for at least a 75-point campaign. Colorado has been ridiculously stingy on the road this year yielding just 2.42 goals per game. Colorado has seen the under hit in four consecutive contests. Yet, the over/under here is six. Something is afoot. The top line from Carolina could do some damage tonight as the Avalanche are still giving up more than 32 shots per 60 on the road. Carolina is one of the top shooting teams in the league, led by Svechnikov.

Keep an eye on this game. Like others tonight, it has an uncanny potential to surprise. New York-Philadelphia is a crapshoot, but watch for Travis Konecny who saves some phenomenal performances for home tilts. He has 31 points in 31 games at Wells Fargo Center including 13 goals. This game could be unexpectedly higher-scoring.

Max Pacioretty — VGK vs. BUF— ($8,400 DraftKings, $7,900 FanDuel)

As hot as Artemi Panarin has been, Pacioretty has arguably been even hotter. He has nine goals and 14 points in his last 10 games with 45 shots on goal. That includes 31 scoring chances. He and Mark Stone create a level of havoc at even strength as well as on the man advantage. Buffalo has one of the worst penalty kills in the league. Now, the Vegas penalty kill is not much better, but Buffalo at just over 73% on the road screams take a look at the top power play unit for the Golden Knights. Sprinkling Shea Theodore or Nate Schmidt with Pacioretty may offset some cost.

To save a few bucks, look at Jonathan Marchessault, Sam Reinhart or even Stefan Matteau, who is just $3.400 on DraftKings and also value-priced on all platforms.

NHL DFS Picks: Defensemen

Vladislav Gavrikov — CBJ vs. MIN — ($3,200 DraftKings, $3,500 FanDuel)

This is a punt play. Gavrikov has four assists in his previous eight games including three in his last four. His shot volume can be a bit erratic, but his floor is reasonable given his price. The idea is to spend as little as possible on defense to load up on forwards tonight. This slate sets up well for that. Again, Gavrikov is a young defenseman capable of putting up some decent daily fantasy points, and yes, Minnesota is on the back end of a back-to-back.

Also, consider Adam Fox or Tony DeAngelo from the Rangers here. From the Colorado side of things, look at Ryan Graves. If one wants to spend up, Kris Letang is solid against an Anaheim team that often has problems containing Pittsburgh’s offense (even if the Penguins have lost four straight).

NHL DFS Picks: Stacks

NYR1 — Mika Zibanejad – Chris Kreider – Filip Chytil

There is nothing to expect but quality chances with this group. Again, Chytil adds crazy speed and a lower price tag to this group. The same can be argued with the Rangers’ second line as well (think Jesper Fast). However, it is Zibanejad that has the seven-game goal streak. Philadelphia’s top power play unit could be worth taking a look at tonight as New York has played with fire as far as goaltending. At some point, the luck has to run out.

VGK2 — Max Pacioretty – William Karlsson – Mark Stone

This may be an expensive second line, but one can ride the wings and even take Schmidt or Theodore as mentioned above to displace some price. This line could pile up a lot of shots against one of the worst team defenses in hockey. Again, remember the power play here as well. Vegas could have a field day, but so could Buffalo. Watch out for Sabres news as there were some rumors about Jack Eichel possibly being out. It may be nothing, but it may be something.

ANA2 — Danton Heinen – Adam Henrique – Kiefer Sherwood

There is something sneaky about this line that is good and this matchup against Pittsburgh could surprise especially if they go against the Evgeni Malkin line. Yes, the Malkin trio will get their chances, but this is a cheap stack to play at least somewhere. It is contrarian but could surprise on Friday night.
