NHL DFS Picks: Centers

Mika Zibanejad — NYR vs NJ — ($8,400 DraftKings, $8,400 FanDuel)

Zibanejad was on fire previously and then took it to an absurd level on Thursday against the Washington Capitals. He scored five goals including the game-winner in a wild 6-5 OT victory. That gave him 14 goals and 20 points on 45 shots in the previous ten contests. With his past success against New Jersey (four points in three games on 14 shots this season), Zibanejad is an obvious chalk choice that has to be used anyway on Saturday.

Pivoting to Sean Couturier who has 13 goals and 33 points in 33 home games is a wise choice along with Logan Couture who has re-energized San Jose since his return from injury. There are some lower-priced options as well. Even Kevin Hayes has a good bit of value with six goals in his last nine games.

Boone Jenner — CLB vs EDM — ($5,000 DraftKings, $4,500 FanDuel)

For now, Jenner has considerable value because he is blocking shots — nearly two a game over his past ten. He generates nearly four shots a game in that span as well which provides an excellent floor. Yes, Columbus has trouble scoring goals but shot-blocking and generation is something they are excelling at. Again, this brings both the shot and blocks bonus into play on DraftKings. Also, Jenner has four points in his last eight games which is not much but Edmonton does yield over three goals a game at home. At least, Jenner is reasonably priced.

NHL DFS Picks: Wingers

Evander Kane — SJ vs OTT — ($6,400 DraftKings, $6,700 FanDuel)

It is nice to see Kane with Logan Couture and Timo Meier once more as the trio is producing like they were expected to at the start of the season. At any rate, Kane has seven points in his last nine games on 38 shots. That includes 24 scoring chances and a renewed spark on the power play. Overall, 12 of Kane’s 24 goals have come on the man advantage this season and Ottawa has been weak at times on the road when it comes to the penalty kill.

Keep an eye on this game. Like others tonight, it has an uncanny potential to surprise. Again, the Edmonton and Columbus game could be another shocker when it comes to the scoreboard but that is more because of how Edmonton plays at home.

Pavel Buchnevich — NYR vs NJ— ($4,800 DraftKings, $5,300 FanDuel)

Lost in the crazy Zibanejad game was the fact that Buchnevich hit a post and crossbar in the very same game. As it was, he had two assists and several quality scoring chances against a porous Washington defense. New Jersey is the worst team in the league when it comes to defensive metrics and the Rangers have pretty much controlled New Jersey all season in the matchups. The expectation is nothing less here as New Jersey is not rested and New York comes off that emotional overtime win on Thursday. Buchnevich has nine points in his last nine games and yet his price has remained relatively steady.

To save a few bucks, look at Nikita Gusev or Jesper Bratt, Anthony Duclair, and even Travis Konecny. The Flyers top-unit power play is something to look at especially at home on Saturday night.

NHL DFS Picks: Defensemen

Torey Krug — BOS vs TB — ($5,400 DraftKings, $5,600 FanDuel)

This is a good GPP play. Krug’s consistency between home and road splits has been nice. However, what has been nicer is his production of late. He has nine points in his last nine games including a goal and an assist in Tampa Bay on Thursday. He has three points in three meetings versus the Lightning and seems to excel against them especially when it comes to scoring chances. Krug is averaging nearly 3.5 shots per game over this nine-game run and nearly three scoring chances per contest. He may be a little higher-owned than usual on Saturday just because this is a home tilt for Boston.

Also, consider Adam Fox from the New York Rangers here. Again, Ivan Provorov’s price has

NHL DFS Picks: Stacks

NYR PP 1 — Mika Zibanejad – Artemi Panarin – Pavel Buchnevich – Ryan Strome

This is more expensive than most power plays on the surface but the last two forwards make this a little easier to absorb. It comes down to going all-in or choosing between Zibanejad and Panarin. Either one is going to be an excellent option tonight against a questionable New Jersey penalty kill that is second-worst in the league when it comes to allowing unblocked shots from the point. Also, watch for Tony DeAngelo. The last time these two teams met in MSG, he had a five-point night.

PHI 2 — Joel Farabee – Kevin Hayes – Travis Konecny

This is a nicer trio with Farabee because it causes the price to come down to a cheap play level almost. Hayes and Konecny have been key contributors in this eight-game winning streak and again both see some power-play time as well. It could be a sneaky play given most everyone else will be on that top line Saturday. That is understandable. This is about concentrating on a stack that has gone a bit overlooked.

FLA 1 — Jonathan Huberdeau – Aleksander Barkov – Evgenii Dadonov

There is something good about this matchup and also whoever goes against this line the most should have some excellent chances as well. This could be a wild affair in Florida on Saturday as both Montreal and Florida are porous defensively when it comes to shots allowed. Florida even allows nearly 3.4 goals a game at home. Expect 70+ shots combined by the two teams with this top Florida line getting the lion’s share. Their power-play correlation is big against one of the five worst road penalty kills in the entire league.
