NHL DFS Picks & Stacks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups Tonight | LA Kings & Steven Stamkos 10/25/21

There is a mid-sized, seven-game slate on this Monday night, and six of the seven games lock at 7 p.m. ET, so there will not be many late-swap options tonight. This Power Play article will use Awesemo’s Premium NHL Tools to help you build your best DraftKings and FanDuel lineups tonight. The Awesemo NHL DFS projections and fantasy projections are two of the best tools to utilize when constructing stacks and making the optimal NHL DFS picks. Let’s get into tonight’s slate and pinpoint the top plays for Monday, Oct. 25.

NHL DFS Picks, Tops Stacks & Lineup Optimizer Plays

Center

Vincent Trocheck (TOR at CAR): DraftKings – $5,000 FanDuel – $5,600

Coming off back-to-back strong games, Trocheck is reasonably priced in a home matchup with the Maple Leafs. He has two goals and three assists in his past two games and gets a juicy five-on-five match up against Alexander Kerfoot, John Tavares and Mitch Marner. Their defensive numbers together have been pedestrian, especially Marner, whose numbers without Auston Matthews crater. Trocheck also is getting top power-play time against an average Leafs penalty kill, so he can be deployed in any format.

Roope Hintz (DAL at CLS): DraftKings – $3,900 FanDuel – $6,000

Hintz’s minutes were a concern in the first few games, getting 12 minutes a night. In his last game, however, he saw an increase to 17 minutes and is getting new linemates tonight with Denis Gurianov and Joe Pavelski on his wings. The main appeal for this play, especially on DraftKings, is his price at $3,900. On FanDuel at his price it makes more sense to include him on full DAL1 stacks.

Winger

Steven Stamkos (TB at BUF): DraftKings – $7,700 FanDuel – $8,400

One of the top projected wingers according to the Awesemo projections, Stamkos gets a juicy road matchup against the Sabres. He is priced high on both sites, but he appears to be fully healthy after a couple seasons of nagging injuries, and his minutes have increased steadily since Nikita Kucherov went on IR. In his last two games he has played upwards of 21 minutes, and that trend should continue. Buffalo’s goaltending is suspect, and Stamkos will see top power-play minutes. He makes the most sense in some form of TB1 or power-play stack, but a one-off would also be acceptable.

Vladimir Tarasenko (LA at STL) DraftKings – $5,300 FanDuel – $7,300

Bottom-six wingers are usually difficult to project, and that is the case for Tarasenko, but there are numerous reasons why he is a good play tonight. The Blues are a deep team, and Tarasenko is on the third line but is reasonably priced on DraftKings, where he also gets top power-play time against a Kings penalty kill that is average without their best defenseman in Drew Doughty. On top of that, the third line for the Blues gets a soft defensive matchup against the third line of the Kings. In a somewhat small sample, the duo of Gabe Vilardi and Carl Grundstrom have allowed a whopping 3.63 expected goals per 60 and 22 high-danger scoring chances per 60. These are atrocious numbers, and Tarasenko is a bona fide top winger when healthy, so on DraftKings he is an elite play in all formats. On FanDuel he can be played in all formats, but at his price it makes the most sense in Blues stacks.

Defense

Miro Heiskanen (DAL at CLS) DraftKings -$4,800 FanDuel – $6,100

Heiskanen continues to be underpriced on DraftKings, and that is a big reason for his appeal there. On FanDuel he is moderately priced, but he still makes for a great play. The one cause for concern is that John Klingberg is returning tonight, bumping Heiskanen down to the second power play. However, he still is seeing tremendous minutes on the ice. In six games this season his lowest time on ice was 24 minutes, and he has peaked at 29. For $4,800, getting 25 to 26 minutes a night plus power-play time makes him one of the best defensemen on tonight’s slate.

Goalie

Spencer Knight (ARI at FLA) DraftKings – $8,500 FanDuel – $8,300

According to the Awesemo projections, Knight is one of the top goalies on tonight’s slate. The Panthers are as high as -400 favorites in some spots and should win. Knight did not take over the starting goaltender role going into this season, but that is probably more related to Sergei Bobrovsky’s contract than Knight’s play. He is one of the most talented young goalies in the NHL and is more than likely the Panthers goalie of the future. The Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the NHL, so the shutout potential is real tonight for Knight.

NHL DFS Top Stacks

Los Angeles Kings 1: Viktor Arvidsson – Anze Kopitar – Dustin Brown

According to the Awesemo NHL Top Stacks Tool, the Los Angeles top line has a 10.4% chance to be a top-two stack tonight, putting them fifth in that category. However, they are projected to be the lowest owned of the top five stacks, making them one of the top leveraged stacks of the night. They have a tough matchup facing the Blues, but since the Kings added Viktor Arvidsson to the top line, their numbers have been great. In a 57-minute sample size, the Kings top line is generating 14 high-danger chances per 60, 2.9 expected goals for per 60 and a 58% Corsi-for. Those numbers are good, and combined with low ownership, the Kings make for a intriguing contrarian option tonight.
