As always, we have Jake Hari’s projections and line stacks for tonight’s action, and I’ll be back in an hour or two with some skaters and goalie plays for tonight’s slate.

The big news

***Update: Viktor Arvidsson has been placed on IR. Colton Sissons will take his place on the top line.***

  • Alex Radulov returns from IR for the Stars and is skating on the stacked DAL1 with Benn and Seguin. Klingberg is out 4-6 weeks, so upgrade Miko Heiskanen, who is on the PP1.
  • Here’s a strange one: Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are together on the Blackhawks top-line. They’ll skate with Nick Schmaltz.
  • Pavel Buchnevich and Mats Zuccarello are out for the Rangers, so their top two lines have been shuffled.
  • Warren Foegele is off CAR2, replaced by Brock McGinn.
  • Dougie Hamilton saw a near season low in ice-time last game against the Red Wings and was on the third-pairing for most of it. But Brett Pesce is out tonight, so Hamilton is back on the top pairing Slavin. This is a roundabout way of saying his down-tick ice-time might be much ado about nothing.

Vancouver Canucks (2.8) at New York Rangers (3.3, -137)

Thoughts on the game:

Judging by this line, Vegas isn’t buying what the Canucks are selling so far, They’ve overachieved to this point in the season, but -140, feels downright disrespectful to the Pacific Division leaders against a meh Rangers team. I think DFSers will be higher on the Canucks than the Rangers, but Vegas is usually pretty smart about these things, so you might be able to get the Rangers at less ownership than they should garner tonight. I doubt a lot of people are going to want to pay $7000 for Zibanejad on DK.

  • The Rangers have shuffled their lines, yet again with the injury to Pavel Buchnevich. Lias Anderson who averaged almost a point a game in the AHL this year, gets a top-six roll.
  • Spooner takes Buchnevich’s place on the PP1 and will skate on the top line.
  • NYR PP2 got 70% of the ice-time last game and is averaging just over half the ice-time over the past three games. Pretty even split right now, so don’t go loading up on NYR PP1 for the hell of it.
  • Canucks lines were shuffled last game – might have more to do with Horvat taking three penalties. The Pettersson line saw at 23% ice-time share.
  • NYR lines: Namestnikov-Zibanejad-Spooner/Kreider-Hayes-Andersson/Vesey-Howden-Fast.

Chicago Blackhawks (2.6) at Carolina Hurricanes (3.6, -163)

Thoughts on the game:

The Hurricanes are the biggest favorites tonight and they have the highest implied total, going up against the 29th place Blackhawks who are starting Cam Ward. The Hurricanes are going to be the chalkiest play on the slate, so look for some unique combos, like adding Svechnikov (PP1) to your CAR1 stacks. Or you can take a walk down narrative street and roster a Ward-led stack in his first game against his old team. At the very least, you know he’ll be facing a lot of shots.

  • Analytics darling Warren Foegele has been moved off the Hurricanes second line, in favour of Brock McGinn. How dare they.
  • As mention, the Blackhawks have put Toews and Kane together. Brandon Saad is still The rest of the lines: Fortin-Anisimov-Hayes/DeBrincat-Kamf-Kahun/Kunitz-Johnson-Martinsen

Columbus Blue Jackets (3.1) at Dallas Stars (3.1)

Thoughts on the game:

CBJ2 has taken over as the de facto number one line in Columbus these days (31% 5v5, Jenner and Anderson on the PP1). Their price is still reasonable, and I doubt they’ll get much ownership, with a road matchup against the Stars tonight.

  • Dubinsky is skating on the third line with Wennberg and Bjorkstrand. Anthony Duclair moves down to the fourth line.
  • Seth Jones gets the most ice-time with CBJ2, Werenski does not.
  • Anthony Duclair is on the PP1 in place of Nick Foligno.
  • Stars lines: Benn-Seguin-Radulov/Shore-Spezza-Nichushkin/Comeau-Faska-Pitlick/ Janmark-Dickinson-Ritchie.

Nashville Predators (3.0, -145) at Anaheim Ducks (2.5)

Thoughts on the game:

The Predators welcomed back Viktor Arvidsson to the fold last game, but he left early (placed on IR today), so take that NSH1 line down a notch.. They’re the only road favorites on the slate, going up against a Ducks team that has the worst underlying metrics of any team in the NHL this season. The only danger in rostering Predators tonight is that the other-worldly John Gibson might stand on his head.

  • Sissons takes over on NSH1 for Arvidsson.
  • I think the Ducks switched things up in line rushes before their last game. Cogliano is with Kesler and Silfverberg, Henrique skates between Aberg and Ritchie.
  • PPs are getting an even split in Nashville over the past couple weeks, so don’t be afraid to roster the criminally underrated Josi/Ellis pairing.
