The 2021 NHL season is officially underway, and that means NHL DFS is back in our lives. Like many sports, the easiest way to maximize your ceiling is through stacking, and that couldn’t be any truer in hockey, with each goal averaging 1.7 assists. In this article I’ll help you find the best stacks and NHL DFS picks to make for DraftKings +FanDuel fantasy hockey lineups using Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool.

Top Stack: WAS1
On a large slate such as we have today, you don’t normally need to get cute because there are so many good plays as a whole. The Capitals tend to be a popular team on many slates, but with today’s size and selection, we can get them at ownership discount, which makes them a phenomenal stack for NHL DFS.
Alex Ovechkin will always be the lynchpin of this trio, as he often creates chances with his laser-quick shot either in the form of goals or rebounds. Creating those shots will be Nicklas Backstrom in the middle for Washington. The veteran often knows Ovechkin’s location on the ice and will feed him as often as possible. And to round them out is the garbage man T.J. Oshie. Oshie is a skilled forward but is well known for hanging in the slot and putting home rebounds (hopefully from Ovechkin).
They are the most expensive line on the slate, but that salary also brings us ownership relief, which in turn gives us leverage on the field. Spending up to be different is never a bad theory.

Under-Owned Stack: NYR1 (DraftKings)
This is very dependent on the site, as the Rangers’ pricing is a bit softer on DraftKings, but the point still rings through on both sites. The Rangers come in as the highest-leverage stack on DraftKings and carrying a projected Ownership south of 5%.
Last year this line was a NHL DFS darling because Mika Zibanejad had a career season and scored 41 goals. He’ll look to prove that wasn’t a fluke as he carries the torch again for the line alongside the skilled Pavel Buchnevich and speedster Chris Kreider.
All three of the guys are offensive talents that can absolutely break any slate. I love them here at suppressed ownership all around.
