The 76ers used their big first and fourth quarters to win Game 2 and even this series. Despite playing through a torn meniscus, Joel Embiid has been absolutely dominant through two games. He has scored 39 and 40 in Games 1 and 2, respectively. Tobias Harris was also instrumental to the 76ers getting up early and ultimately getting the win, scoring 22 points on 11-for-19 shooting overall. Seth Curry also provided strong outside shooting to space the floor, hitting 5 of 6 from 3-point range. While 4 points from Ben Simmons looks disappointing, he only took three shots on the night, and his contributions defensively were exactly what the 76ers needed to get this win.
Much of Simmons’ defensive focus was put onto Trae Young, who was limited to 21 points and 1-for-7 shooting from downtown in the game. He again finished with a double-double, dishing 11 assists. Many of these assists were thanks to Danilo Gallinari off the bench, who scored 21 points in 26 minutes. Kevin Huerter also helped out with his 20 bench points. After that, there was not much good. Clint Capela is clearly losing the battle in the post, as he finished the game as a game-worst minus-25.
