NBA Player Prop Bet: Ben Simmons 11.5 Points | May 7

There is a 10-game Friday night NBA slate, and it is full of marquee players and teams. There are a few potential previews of playoff matchups and other teams looking to get into the conversation for the postseason. Yesterday we were able to survive some early foul trouble by John Collins to still cash our favorite prop of the day in his rebounding total. Let’s head back to the betting market to try and find another spot that sticks out and is worth taking a position on tonight.

NBA Prop Bet: Ben Simmons Over 11.5 Points (-120, FanDuel)

Looking over all the options tonight, there are a bunch of different spots worth considering. Simmons stood out the most, specifically his points total of 11.5. Although he isn’t known for his scoring ability, he should get over this number tonight against a terrible Pelicans defense. The 76ers are back at home after a long road trip and are comfortable 9-point favorites in this spot.

The over is -120, and while Simmons hasn’t been lighting up the scoring column lately, there is a reason for that. Philadelphia has been in a ton of blowouts lately, which has put Simmons’ minutes all over the map. Over the last 10 games that Simmons has played, the Sixers have won six by 18 points or more, and that is directly impacting his output. In those games, he hasn’t played more than 28 minutes. In the other four games, Simmons has minutes totals of 35, 36, 35 and 33, and that sets him up for a much better stat line.

All of this hinges on the Pelicans being able to hang in this game, and that is certainly a risk to factor in tonight. Even though Philadelphia is a sizeable favorite, that should not deter from betting the over here. If the 76ers blow out the Pelicans, the prop can still cash before Simmons sits. If it is a competitive game, there is a ton of value here. Against a New Orleans team that has been lacking defensively, this is a great opportunity to buy low on a guy whose main negative has been the team is playing too well when he has been in the lineup. Given that this line is basically a slightly juiced coin flip, there is more than enough value to take a shot on Simmons.
