Here are a few of my strongest spots on the board for Friday’s betting card along with analysis on the play and the best place to take the bet courtesy of the Awesemo OddsShopper tool. Let’s get into some MLB odds, NBA odds and betting picks for tonight’s action.

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays: New York Moneyline (-104)

Blake Snell is on the mound for the Rays, which has this game sitting as a pick-’em, but this isn’t the dominant ace that we’re used to avoiding when it comes to placing bets against. Snell clearly hasn’t been used the way we’d anticipate early in the season, pitching just two innings in his debut against the Blue Jays, and then getting knocked around for three runs in three innings of a loss to the Orioles. Tampa’s bullpen hasn’t been quite what we expected it to be this season, but the cold bats are the most important fade in this bet for me. Tampa has scored 14 total runs in its last six games combined.

Masahiro Tanaka will take the mound for the Yanks, and while he pitched just 2.2 innings in his season debut, he looked good in a win over the Red Sox. In four starts against the Rays in 2019, Tanaka had a 1.59 ERA, punching out 28 batters over 28.1 innings. The Yankees went 3-1 in those starts, with the loss coming as a 2-1 extra inning game. I expect the Yankees bats to bet the difference in this one and trust New York’s bullpen to close it out.

There’s competitive MLB Odds across the board for this game, but -104 at FanDuel is the top price as I write this. Give the game a look on OddsShopper and see where you can find the current best price if this is a game you plan on locking in.

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres: San Diego First Five (-125)

The Diamondbacks’ bats have woken up a bit, but this is still a full fade of their offense along with a huge starting pitching mismatch. Luke Weaver will be on the mound for Arizona, lasting a combined 7.1 innings in his first two starts, each of which he allowed six earned runs — his first start was a 6-2 loss to the Padres, followed by an 11-2 loss to the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks trailed by four and six runs, respectively, after five innings of those games.

Zach Davies has been solid for the Padres, posting a 4.50 ERA through three starts. He’s farm from an ideal pitcher to back, but given the matchup, I think we can trust it. Aside from having an even worse arm starting for Arizona, the Diamondbacks are averaging just 2.83 runs per game on the road this season.

We’re still working with the OddsShopper tool to incorporate first-five-inning bets, but FanDuel is also offering the best price on the moneyline on this game with MLB odds at -126. Check back if you plan to bet on where the top moneyline is, and then check out if their first five price is also tops in the marker.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Oklahoma City -3.5 (Even)

Memphis is falling apart in the bubble, doing everything it can to giveaway the eighth seed. The Grizzlies are 0-4 straight up and 0-4 against the spread, and things have only gotten worse since losing Jaren Jackson Jr. for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, the Thunder are 2-1 straight up and against the spread in the bubble, and they remain the leagues top spread performer this season at 42-25. Oklahoma City is still battling for position in the West, and working its way into the four-five matchup could mean avoiding a daunting first-round battle with the Clippers or Nuggets. Memphis might be desperate, but the Thunder aren’t going to lay down here. They have plenty to play for themselves and have been the far more impressive team in bubble play.

This game has been on and off the board with some injury news for Oklahoma City, but I like the bet assuming Steven Adams plays. PointsBet should be offering even NBA odds on the spread, but if that changes, just go back to the OddsShopper tool and see where the best price currently lives.
