NBA Picks + NBA Odds: Lakers vs. Nuggets

LeBron James Over 8.5 Assists: +108 (PointsBet, as of 11 a.m EST)

We are set to get the Western Conference finals underway with the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Denver Nuggets. The West has produced a lot of dramatic series, and all of that is because of the Denver Nuggets. They are making history seemingly with every comeback as they have gone down 3-1 in both series only to rally and defy the odds. The latest comeback was against the Clipper,s who were one of the favorites to win the whole thing. They now will look to take out both Los Angeles teams as the Lakers are waiting after taking care of business against the Rockets in much easier fashion.

There are all sorts of players props to breakdown, but I am going to the assists market with LeBron James. His over/under tonight for assists stands at 8.5, and I will be leaning over on this prop. The best odds number available is over at PointsBet, where LeBron sits as a slight dog for the over, whereas most other books have him as a slight favorite.

We all know that LeBron is a generational passer, and I don’t really need to get into all the accolades he has accumulated over his career. He certainly knows how to turn it on when need be, and that can be via scoring or just distributing like we saw more in the Portland series. LeBron took on more of a passing role against the Blazers, averaging 10.2 assists per game, while against Houston that number dropped to 7.4. You can certainly make the case that the return of Rajon Rondo has impacted these numbers, but that was against a totally different opponent in terms of personnel in Houston. With a plus number in this spot, I feel comfortable taking a shot on LeBron taking more of a wait-and-see approach rather than coming out looking to score in this Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
