There are two more playoff matchups on tap Tuesday night. After yesterday’s games produced a pair of blowouts and some NBA betting statistical anomalies, hopefully tonight’s action will be a bit more compelling. The NBA player props betting odds are posted, and there are several intriguing options on the board today. Kevin Huerter Under 2.5 Assists
The Hawks shocked everyone by taking Game 1 of their second-round series against the top-seeded 76ers. Trae Young led the way with a massive game, but there were plenty of other players who stepped up for Atlanta. Among them was Huerter, who had by far his best game of the postseason to date with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. However, the four assists Huerter dished in Game 1 were the most he’s had in any playoff game to date. In fact, he never had more than two in any of the Hawks’ five first-round games. Huerter averaged 3.5 assists per contest this season. Considering that the 76ers were a top-five scoring defense this season, replicating his Game 1 line seems far-fetched. In fact, Atlanta could be in for a difficult evening as a team as Philadelphia tries to salvage Game 2 on its home floor. Even with the juice required to make this prediction, the under is still worth it.
Donovan Mitchell Under 28.5 Points
From the moment he returned to action in Game 2 of the Jazz’s Round 1 series against Memphis, Mitchell made life miserable for the Grizzlies. He showed no signs of rust in any of the four games he played and capped off the first-round series in Game 5 with 30 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. In fact, Mitchell scored 25 or more points in all four games he played. Such a run of production might have helped to inflate tonight’s odds, thus pointing to the under.
The big difference between the last round and the upcoming Western Conference Semifinals for the Jazz is the defensive competence of their opponent. Utah throttled the weak Grizzlies’ defense to the tune of 123.4 points per game in the series. Such production will be far more difficult to obtain against a Clippers group that ranked third in scoring defense this season. On top of the change in opponent, the line of 28.5 is over 2 points more than Mitchell’s per-game average (26.4) for the season.
Reggie Jackson Over 2.5 Made 3-Pointers
Jackson is quickly becoming a staple of this props column. The same can be said for the team’s box score. Jackson was the most consistent scorer in the first round of the playoffs behind stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. His 15 points in the decisive Game 7 victory marked the sixth straight game in which he scored at least that many. Coinciding with his scoring is an impressive shooting stretch from beyond the 3-point arc.
Jackson attempted a minimum of eight triples over that six-game stretch. He hit at least three in all of those outings. A 43.3% shooter from deep on the season, Jackson clearly has the shooting ability to knock down the long ball. Combining that with the percentage with the shot attempts he is currently getting, it’s hard not to love taking over 2.5 made 3-pointers among tonight’s Game 1 props. Be sure to shop the odds carefully, though. There are even plus-money odds available on Jackson to replicate a shooting stat he has now accomplished in six straight games.
