Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints
Date: Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020
Time: 4:25 p.m. ET
Venue: Mercedes-Benz Superdome — New Orleans, LA
This is the matchup everyone wants to tune into. The new Buccaneers have Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski reunited, Leonard Fournette in the backfield, and Chris Godwin and Mike Evans at wide receiver. Speaking of Evans, he has been dealing with a hamstring injury all week, and he is currently questionable for the game. Still, with the Saints’ Marshon Lattimore likely to cover him, he is not likely to have a tremendous week either way.
Of the two defenses in this game, Tampa’s is definitely weaker. However, they are not a poor as their stats last season showed. They ranked 29th in points allowed (28.1) but 15th in yards allowed (343.9). Looking at that, it’s safe to assume the short fields Jameis Winston gave them did not help. While Brady doesn’t have as big of an arm, his ability to protect the football will not only help the team overall, but also the defense.
The Saints look to be one of the most complete teams in the league. They were an offense that was loaded in 2019. In the offseason, they added Emmanuel Sanders to a talent corps of weapons for Brees. New Orleans also has a defense, with play makers at every level. They do a couple things great, but nothing poor. That is the difference between them and nearly every other team in the NFL. It allows them to match up with everyone, even a loaded Tampa offense.
