Best NCAAB Bet Today: Notre Dame Pick-‘Em

In a battle of No. 12 seeds, Notre Dame takes on Rutgers in a pick-’em game environment. With a tight spread, finding the right number here is key. Rutgers has played much better of late after struggling through non-conference play, losing to DePaul, Lafayette, UMass and Seton Hall. However, Rutgers improved during Big Ten play and finished with a 6-6 record in Quad 1 games. Meanwhile, Notre Dame played in a weak ACC conference, with their only notable non-conference win coming against Kentucky. Kentucky shot 2-for-19 (10%) from 3 in that game. In their other notable non-conference games, Notre Dame lost to Saint Mary’s, Texas A&M, Illinois, Boston College and Indiana. All except Boston College were by 10 points or less. Still, Notre Dame has advantages here. The Irish are 46th in offensive efficiency and 20th in 3-point percentage. Rutgers plays adequate defense, but they rank 202nd in 3-point defense. Notre Dame generates a lot of fouls while shooting 76% from the free-throw line. Teams with size project to give Notre Dame trouble in the NCAA Tournament. Notre Dame is 112th in effective height, but Rutgers ranks 71st in this metric, making it a far more neutral matchup. Again, the number is key here. Notre Dame as an underdog or in a pick-’em makes sense, but anything more than that is a lot to ask.

Best NCAAB Bet Today: Bryant +3.5

A play-in game for the right to play Arizona, Bryant faces Wright State as a 3.5-point underdog. Bryant finished as the regular season and postseason champion of the Northeast Conference, while Wright State finished fourth in the Horizon League. Both teams play fast an excel on offense, but neither has done well against better competition. Wright State did knock of North Carolina State earlier in the year, but neither team found ways to handle other notable opponents. In a low-level game here, Bryant possesses enough advantages to back as an underdog. Wright State has the more powerful offense, but they rank 226th in defensive efficiency. Bryant has an alpha scorer in Peter Kiss, who is capable of taking over games of any caliber. Bryant also ranks fifth in rebounding, while Wright State checks in at 203rd. Bryant can get careless with turnovers and fouls, potentially giving Wright State an edge. However, if Bryant can play a clean game here, they’re live as a 3.5-point underdog.
