Tuesday’s NBA Betting Picks & Player Prop Bets | March 2
Chris Paul, OVER 9.5 AST (+116, SugarHouse & DraftKings Sportsbook)
The Suns have had a rather surprising first half to the 2021 season, heading into Staples Center on Tuesday night just a game behind their opponent Los Angeles Lakers. A road win on Tuesday will put Phoenix even with the Lakers in the standings, and veteran point guard Chris Paul should be looking to get his fellow Suns teammates involved early and often. Looking to the assists subcategory on OddsShopper, Paul has a player prop of 9.5 assists and +116 on the over. With the All-Star season Paul has been having thus far, particularly per the assists column, the odds here are more than worthy of our consideration.
Paul has guided the Suns to a 66.7% win percentage, and he is having his best assist numbers since his days with the Clippers. Over his 15 years in the league, Paul has averaged 9.4 assists per game while averaging 9.0 assists and an outstanding 40.8% assist rate this season. Paul needs just above half of that total here this evening against a susceptible opponent, and his consistency and production is among the league’s very best. Over the course of his past 10 games, Paul had 10 assists in five.
While the Lakers have been having a great season overall, they are missing the presence of Anthony Davis on both ends of the court and have been around league average giving up assists. The Lakers are specifically allowing 8.5 assists per game to point guards (tied 21st), making them solid targets for Paul to work his magic. Getting the added bonus at +116 on a moderate assist total makes for terrific value on Tuesday’s NBA slate.

Nicolas Batum, OVER 4.5 Total Rebounds (+136, SugarHouse & DraftKings Sportsbook)
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both returned to the active roster a couple weeks ago after each dealing with non-COVID related injury designations, and the Clippers have been winning every other game since. Nicolas Batum has stood to benefit on-court from their return, and today he has a rebounds prop of 4.5 with +136 odds on the over. Seeing how Batum has performed when the two star Clippers are on the court, the NBA odds here are noteworthy value.
Along with a career average of 5.2 rebounds per game, Batum has seen a significant increase in his playing, up 6.4 minutes from last season to 29.4 per game. Thus his rebounds have naturally seen a slight increase, up to 4.8 rebounds per game (from 4.5 in 2019-20), yet with an 8.4% rebound rate that leaves much to be desired. But it’s actually with the return of Leonard and George that Batum sees an increase in his rebounding totals, going from a 4.7 to 5.3 rebound average per 36 minutes with George and Leonard on the court (Batum sees nearly all of his playing time alongside both players). Since their recent return, Batum’s rebound totals have been 3, 6, 3, 2, 6, and 6.
Traveling to square off with a stingy Celtics team, Batum and the Clippers may have a hard-fought battle ahead of them. Still, Los Angeles outduels the Celtics by rebounding numbers in 2020-21. With Boston surrendering 42.3 boards per game (sixth best) and the Clippers allowing just 41.4 rebounds on average to opponents (second best), we should be in for a show down in the post at TD Garden. Boston gives up just 9.4 rebounds per game on average to power forwards, but with a moderately low rebounding total needed for Batum (provided he gets his 30 minutes), the plus-money value makes for some of Tuesday’s better value.
