The following are Euro 2020 betting picks and predictions where I agree with the results driven by my betting model. For this article, we’ll be diving into the Belgium vs. Denmark Group B match and a Romelu Lukaku player prop for Thursday, June 17.
Belgium vs. Denmark: Euro 2020 Betting Preview
Belgium vs. Denmark
Denmark will take on Belgium, which is the favorite to win Group B. Denmark has the advantage of playing the match in its home country. Belgium is coming in as a slight favorite at +100 on BetMGM. The status of Kevin De Bruyne is still unknown, while Eden Hazard did make an appearance in the opener. Belgium had no issues finding the back of the net in that game, winning 3-0 thanks to a brace by Lukaku. Belgium continues to run the score on its opponents, with three-plus goals in four consecutive competitive matches. Belgium is unbeaten with two draws in its last 12 matches.
Denmark fell to Finland in its Euro 2020 Championship opener. The defeat was headlined by the unfortunate collapse of Christian Eriksen. Eriksen does so much for the team, and restarting the match proved costly for his teammates. Demark was the favorite coming into the tournament to finish and advance behind Belgium. Now Denmark sits as a -118 odds to be eliminated in the group stage. They have lost 37.4% of their goal contribution with Eriksen out, and more importantly, five days is not enough to emotionally recover.
Belgium Moneyline (+100)
Denmark is outmatched from a talent standpoint. The creation form Yannick Carrasco and the speed and force of Lukaku will hide the absence of De Bruyne and possibly Hazard. Belgium’s midfield is as solid as any nation, with Youri Tielemans in control and using time of possession to their advantage.
A year ago Belgium took two victories against this Denmark side by the scores of 4-2 and 2-0. Lukaku scored two goals in one of those matches, and Dries Mertens secured the victory in the clean-sheet victory. Belgium could be without De Bruyne, as mentioned above, but the rest of the formation is in tact. Denmark will have a number of adjustments to make without their set piece man and the orchestrator of possession. In both matches time of possession was split evenly at 50% apiece. Belgium is here to do a job, and even money is a great price. The line should start moving towards the -145 or longer range by kickoff. The odds on Lukaku’s player prop to score are also good, at +120 on BetMGM.
