Edlow’s Edge: OddsShopper NBA + CFB Picks | Friday, 9/25

It felt good to bounce back with a 2-1 Thursday and turn some profit for a change. We need to keep doing that to round out the week and try and finish profitable. Like I mentioned yesterday, I think MLB is borderline unbettable for the final weekend of the season. I’ll most likely just wait for the playoffs at this point unless a spot really speaks to me with a massive edge.

Not that much jumps out to me on Friday night, but we’ll go back to a player prop that we had a rough time on in Wednesday’s game for the only bet of the night. I also think we can have a little bit of fun betting college football on Saturday and potentially use a DraftKings odds boost to get a better price on parlaying some heavy favorites. Here’s a breakdown of the plays, using the Awesemo OddsShopper tool to help us find the best current odds.

Marcus Smart Points Over 12.5 (-115)

We went to this prop on Wednesday and fell short. Smart had just 10 points, but we had some tough luck with him missing a ton of scoring chances. Smart shot just 3-of-12 in 36 minutes, including 1-of-8 from beyond the arch. Aside from coming up just short despite plenty of missed triples that could’ve helped the prop go over, Smart also fouled out in the final minute of the game. Smart’s been playing the same role for Boston each game and should continue getting his shots up. Entering Game 4, Smart was averaging 19.8 points on 14.2 shot attempts per game over his last five in the playoffs. All we need is some improvement on a 25% night from the field (12.5% from downtown), and we should be able to get this one over.

OddsShopper shows mostly -134 across the board on the over for Smart’s point prop. BetMGM is the obvious place to make the play, hanging a -115 on the board. Save yourself 19 cents in juice.

Moneyline Parlay: Florida/Louisiana-Lafayette/Texas/LSU/Boston College/Baylor (+107)

I want to be transparent here and certainly not force any bets, especially during a bad week. So with limited plays jumping out to me on Friday, I figured I’d take you into a just-for-fun play on Saturday. I’m by no means a college football expert, but I enjoy watching and think parlaying some heavy favorites together to sweat throughout the day can be exciting. This is not a full-unit-sized bet, just something to put a couple bucks on for fun. Here’s a quick look at why I included each team.

DraftKings Promo: This parlay includes favorites at too heavy a price to get the profit boost, but DraftKings is running a promo this weekend if you’ve bet some college football in the past. Make sure to check your account for a college football four-leg parlay profit boost of 20%. The catch is no team in the parlay can be larger than a -500 favorite. But piece together your four favorites money lines at -500 or better, and your payout will be boosted by 20% if you’re able to opt in.

Florida (-715): Has a Heisman hopeful in Kyle Trask who exceeded expectations last season.

Louisiana-Lafayette (-445): Began the season with an upset over Iowa State and has cracked the top 25.

LSU (-1115): Lost a ton of pieces to the NFL, but still absolutely loaded. Mississippi State is on more of a decline this season than LSU.

Texas (-1000): Was terrific last season, much like Florida trying to improve upon 2019 and take the program back to the next level.

Boston College (-1000): The eagles reached as high as 6.5-point dogs at Duke last week and got a dominant outright win. Returning home with some promising players and new coaching staff for a much easier game this week.

Baylor (-770): New coaches and yet to play a game, but still a ton of talent on this roster. Also a Kansas fade. Jayhawks looked awful against Coastal Carolina.
